The first game in the series to make its way to mobile devices, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories tasked the player with restoring an old farm in an effort to recover the Seeds of Memories needed to help the villagers remember their past. In total, there were 150 different memories to be found and celebrated, thus restoring the memories of the friendships and experiences once held.
Borrowing the context-sensitive design of the prior game in the series, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories kept the design streamlined for play on mobile devices. Similarly, several of the villagers from the The Lost Valley migrated to Chestnut Town, as did three of the Harvest Sprites. Players could befriend a stray bobcat and make it a pet, purchase recipes, farm, mine, and get married. The game allowed for two children to be born after marriage, thus ensuring the endgame contained a robust family experience.
Designed specifically for mobile devices, which generally means shorter periods of play, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories featured a faster clock and quicker progression cycle than most games in the series. Players could quickly accumulate a number of seeds to plant and the requisite tools to go fishing and mining, and begin raising their first livestock in little time. The abundance of festivals, bachelor/bachelorette candidates, and crop mutations combined to keep players coming back every chance they got.
