Set in the Oasis of the Harvest Goddess, Harvest Moon: Skytree Village built upon many of the features introduced in Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. Terraforming, crop mutations, and context-sensitive tools all return alongside a new location and story.

Upon stumbling across the Oasis of the Harvest Goddess, the player was told that the landscape was once lush and fertile, and home to a thriving town. But when the Harvest Goddess lost her powers and the Skytrees wilted, the people moved away and the land dried up. Now it was up to the player to revive the Skytrees by showing how much they cared.

Filled with hundreds of crop mutations, and dozens of animal feed and bait varieties that could be made at the mill, Harvest Moon: Skytree Village had one of the most expansive farming systems of any game in the franchise. Fortunately, players were able to use the terraforming abilities introduced earlier and bend the land to their will, thus ensuring there was always plenty of room to till. And good thing too, as the storms that raged across the Oasis of the Harvest Goddess were among the most damaging of any game in the franchise, capable of wiping out entire harvests.
