The popular GameCube installment came to the PlayStation 2 in 2005 in the form of a Special Edition. This edition added several new enhancements to the original version of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, while borrowing the condensed chapters from the sequel.
The most significant change to the gameplay was the addition of a fourth bachelorette. Lumina, a character originally intended for your son to potentially fall in love with in the original game, became old enough to pursue for marriage. In addition to being able to marry Lumina, it was also now possible to have a daughter instead of a son, though this required asking Mr. Potts to grant you a wish 100 times during Chapter 1.
Another key enhancement was the addition of Heaven mode, which allowed players to continue playing in a free-play mode after completing the sixth chapter.
Fun Facts
- It was now possible to sell your goat once mature. Grass for grazing had to be fertilized if you wanted to allow your animals outside.
- The character’s outfit changed throughout the stages of life, and the character’s wife’s clothing also changed if the player had a daughter.
- Wardrobe changes weren’t limited to the humans! Even the horse could come in different colors and patterns.
- Mukumuku, the snowman-like creature that appeared in the winter, looked different in the PS2 version of the game. Befriending him now earned players the “Joy of Fall” record.
