Chasing Down the Bad Guys

Make Mine Marvel

For the next main mission, one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s vehicles is en route to a safe house carrying an ally with crucial intel. The roads are jammed with ice barricades and Frost Giants, and the task at hand is to keep the S.H.I.E.L.D. ally safe as they drive to the checkpoint. Fly over to the bridge and meet the vehicle as it cruises into the city.

Follow the vehicle to the first intersection and destroy the ice barricades blocking the street. An Air Attack will strike multiple barricades at once. Once the barricades are in pieces, Frost Giants spawn to besiege the vehicle. Take them out one by one, and if you drift away too far, remember to throw Mjolnir and scatter any Frost Giants that near the vehicle.

Repeat your defense at the second and third intersections. Each will have ice barricades that stop the vehicle and Frost Giants that try to rip the vehicle apart. Thor’s Lightning Strike area-effect attack can help destroy groups that surround the vehicle, especially when you’re standing on one side of the vehicle and enemies may be attacking from the other. It’s also clutch in the final encounter next.

The vehicle will pull off the street and park at a street corner after the third intersection. Prepare for an all-out slugfest in this final encounter: lots of Frost Giants and lots of running around to defend every side of the vehicle. Use your special abilities if you’ve got them and keep repelling enemies away from the vehicle. It’s better to knock Frost Giants away than to stay with the same one until it’s defeated and leave the vehicle vulnerable, even for a few seconds.

When you defeat the Frost Giant horde, Nick Fury arrives and opens the vehicle to reveal your new ally: Captain Marvel. She has intel on Loki’s plans that says the trail leads to the warehouse district. While she investigates further, you now have Nick Fury and Captain Marvel to contact for main missions.

Chasing a Lead

Captain Marvel sends you on a hunt after roaming Frost Giants, hoping that if you follow them they will lead you to clues about Loki’s master plan. It’s easier if you’re a flyer for this mission as you must race around the city and follow the Frost Giants from a distance. When you finally near each group, you will fight some normal and large Frost Giants.

There are three Frost Giant groups to fight. Follow the yellow objective markers to locate them and do your best to defeat the smaller Giants first. With smaller groups, it’s easier to track the large Frost Giants and avoid a big blow from their spears. Once you destroy the remaining Frost Giant group, the trail leads to a secret access point on the sidewalk and your next mission inside the abandoned warehouse.

Loki’s Swelled Head

A.I.M. Weapon Factory

The “Chasing a Lead” mission leaves you off at the doorstep to this mission. Use the control panel next to the nearby access point to open the doors into the abandoned warehouse serving as a secret A.I.M. Weapon Factory.

Follow the streaking Frost Giant until it leads you to the first room. Security lasers pop up, preventing you from leaving, and Security Drones fly into the area to neutralize the threat—you. Circle the room so the Drones can’t lock on to you, and throw your shield at the closest Drone while avoiding the grounded Frost Giants. Take the Security Drones out first, then clean up the Frost Giants. When all is clear, smash the nearby security panel and shut off the lasers.

Head up the ramp and follow the yellow objective markers as they guide you through the warehouse. As you enter the next room, smash the nearby control panel to destroy the laser turret that defends the room. Jump down into the room and begin taking on targets. Throw your shield at the Security Drones and punch out Frost Giants. If they begin to swarm, back them off with Cap’s Shield Assault.

Destroy the security panel and exit the room into the next corridor. More Security Drones and Frost Giants advance on your position. Before they reach you, smash the security panel on the left side and shut down the laser defenses. Engage the enemies, dodging left and right in the corridor as you strike the Drones out of the air with your shield. Mop up the Frost Giants last.

You’ll reach a series of laser defenses next. Stand in front of the first laser and wait for the laser to move away from you, then sprint down the corridor. When the lasers return, perform a double-jump to clear the top laser and enter the next room. Jump through the second laser defense when it splits apart and the bottom laser is at its lowest point. The third laser setup is trickier. Wait for the top and bottom laser to move away from you and then run after it. After the middle laser passes overhead, time your jump so that you clear the bottom laser on its return trip. Smash the security panel on the right wall to drop the final laser defense and step into the intersection.

Turn to the right and follow the corridor to the next room. Dash toward the left wall and smash the security panel to shut down the laser cannon before it demolishes you. Next, avoid the Frost Giants and concentrate your shield throws on the two Security Drones. Alternatively, you can use Vibranium Defense (if you picked it up) to ricochet the Drones’ laser pulses at the Frost Giants. Use your shield to continuously knock down the large Frost Giant while you cut apart the rest, then turn your attention on him.

At the end of the encounter, a door will open on the right wall. Grab the purple Sparks and jump through the next laser defense when it parts. Turn the corner and run through the last laser defense when the vertical lasers are at their farthest point from each other and the horizontal laser is high.

Climb the blue pole and trash the security panel on the upper ledge to drop the laser wall to your left. Turn right in the intersection and head toward the security room. It’s a perfect opportunity in this next room to use Cap’s Shield Assault and clear most of the room. Whatever enemies survive your assault, concentrate on any Security Drones first and then eliminate regular Frost Giants before wiping out their larger brethren.

Climb the pole and head up into the security room where you can tap into the security monitors in the facility. You finally have found Loki, but he’s not alone—he’s working with M.O.D.O.K. to further his plans. When the villains realize they’re being spied on, Loki confronts you while M.O.D.O.K. escapes.

Loki splits in two at the start of the fight: one real Loki and one mirror image. He likes to deflect your shield throws, so dodge frequently until you can get in close and land a series of blows on either of the Lokis. If Loki shimmers blue, avoid him; he can’t be damaged in that state. Once you actually connect with a Loki, he transforms into a Frost Giant. Beat the Frost Giant and you end the first phase.

Next, Loki will split into three. Continue dodging and striking if you can, or launch one of your specialty Cap’s Shield Assault. As the shield circles around it should take out the fake Loki and deliver damage to the spawning Frost Giant. While the Frost Giant is stunned, combo melee attacks on it to eliminate it quickly. Do the same with the second and third Loki targets.

Co-op Combo: Captain America and Thor

Loki is a tough boss fight, and who better to join forces with Cap than Loki’s half-brother, Thor. Together the heroes have a much better chance at defeating Loki. As one distracts, the other can land blows on the unsuspecting villain, and when a Frost Giant spawns, tag-teaming on it will burst it apart in no time.

Finally, Loki will split into four. Repeat your pattern if you have enough purple Sparks to fire off Cap’s Shield Assault. If not, you will have to go after each Loki in turn until only the real one is left. When a Loki transforms into a large Frost Giant, knock him down and keep up the melee attacks until you defeat him. Eventually, one Loki will be standing—that is, until you knock him down and complete the mission.

Feat Complete: Steady A.I.M.

A Change in the Air

Wasp will give you this mission immediately after completing “Loki’s Swelled Head.” Fly a hero like Thor across town to a door into an apartment complex. Take the elevator up to the roof and look across to the rooftop on the building below. Frost Giants and Security Drones are completing the final work on one of Loki and M.O.D.O.K.’s weather machines.

Fly over to the roof with the weather machine and clear out the enemies. You definitely want Thor or Iron Man on this mission; one wrong step or successful knock back from an opponent and you’ll fall off the roof. With a flyer, you can zip back up no problem. With Thor, you can rocket a hammer at enemies while circling around the roof or drop to the roof and punch out the Frost Giants.

Stay on the roof until you defeat all your foes. Soon you will have repelled the defenders and then the weather machine is all yours. Smash away at it until you deplete its bar and the whole thing explodes. Mission accomplished, though the weather is still looking cold with a chance of blizzards.
