Offensive Scouting Report
- The contract of the most important piece of the Falcons franchise is up at the end of the season. QB Matt Ryan needs to be signed to a long-term deal.
- HB Steven Jackson is a short-term solution to a long-term problem. Backing him up is HB Jacquizz Rodgers, who lacks the top-end speed to be a feature HB in this league. You have two options: try to upgrade Rodgers’s speed or look to the draft for a starting HB.
- WRs Roddy White, Julio Jones, and TE Tony Gonzalez all have two years remaining on their contracts. Let both White and Gonzalez go and sign Jones long-term.
Defensive Scouting Report
- Focus on the defensive line in the upcoming draft as well as in free agency. You need to rebuild it from top to bottom.
- You are also going to need to do something about your current linebackers. TE Tony Gonzalez is expendable—try to bring in a two-for-one deal via trade.
- CB Desmond Trufant is a rookie who has lockdown coverage skills, but he needs upgrades to his PRS and CTH ratings.
