Much like the staff, mage robes are more useful in their supporting properties than when called on to act like armor in deflecting blows. While some outfits have protective qualities, especially in elemental resistances and magic resistance, mana enhancement and generation is a more common property. Fortunately, mage clothes feature some exceptional bonuses in areas that would well serve the party that defends its weaker members.
A magic resistance focus would be a well-rewarded tactic for dealing with some of the later enemies in the game, and with deft use of storage the mage could stock costumes like staves for every occasion. Minimum requirements in both willpower and magic may disadvantage the blood mage who chose to invest attribute points in constitution, but it’s possible to get by with less than 30 in each.
