You can learn three new skills while traveling the world: Martial Arts, Nectar Making, and Photography. All three of these skills may be learned while on trips, but the benefits of the skills extend far beyond the limits of your visa.
These skills can be brought back home and used there, too. A Sim who returns to Riverview with a bottle a sweet nectar not available at the EverFresh Supermarket will be a popular Sim indeed.
And woe to the Burglar who tries to rob a Sim with an advanced Martial Arts skill.
Martial Arts
Martial Arts is the skill learned in China. It’s separate from the Athletic skill. It is originally learned by either reading a book about the skill or by checking into the dojo in Shang Simla.
There, Sims will find the necessary equipment to train up the skill, such as Board Breakers.
Sims who learn Martial Arts become excellent fighters. They don’t go around picking fights, though. This is a defensive skill, but one that pretty much guarantees that a Sim forced into a brawl will walk away the victor.
Nectar Making
Sims who visit France can begin mastering the fine art of making nectar. Visit the Nectary to check out a public Nectar Maker and start squashing fruit to make batches of the delicious beverage.
Adding quality fruits to the Nectar Maker will result in better nectar, which means better moodlets for drinking the stuff, as well as better prices when selling it.
Buy a Nectar Maker and install it back home so you can keep developing the skill when not in France.
Nectar ages well in a cellar. That means you better make a basement for your house if you pursue this skill. There is a brand-new tool in Build Mode for easily constructing basements.

Photography
Photography is not tethered to any one destination. It can be developed in any of the three travel spots by either reading the beginner’s book or by just buying a camera from a shop and snapping some pictures.
Photos are added to different collections. When you complete a collection, you boost the skill.
It costs Simoleons to take photos, but the benefits of completing collections and eventually mastering the skill make it as valuable as the Painting skill.
