Socials — The Sims 3 World Adventures eGuide

Just as there are new wishes, skills, and moodlets for Sims in World Adventures , there are new social interactions. Socials are the actions between two Sims in a conversation.

All of the original socials from The Sims 3 are still available, but a new set of socials is added to the mix to further stimulate conversation.

Some socials are related to traits. Others are inspired by the development of skills.

Use this chart of socials added to World Adventures to help guide conversations, especially when abroad and talking with locals. Here is how the chart breaks down:

Social: Name of social as seen in the conversation menu

Commodity: Commodity associated with the social

Actor/Target Age: Ages in which the social is applicable

• C=Child
• T=Teen
• Y= Young Adult
• A=Adult
• E=Elder

Social Available When?: What prompts the use of the social

Required Trait: Social is only available when Actor has this trait

Social Encouraged by Trait?: Social is potentially more “powerful” due to Actor’s trait

Social Prevented by Trait?: Actor’s trait prevents them from using this social

# of Uses Before Boring: Number of uses in a conversation before the social is dull. Default is 2. Exceptions are specified.

# of Uses if Recharged: Number of times the social can be used if another social interrupts the re-use of the social

Brownie Bites

There is one very special new social in World Adventures that I want to call out: Learn Song. This is one of my favorite additions to the game via World Adventures .

While traveling to destinations and chatting up locals, you can learn songs and take them back home with you. This a wonderful way for the culture of a destination to escape its borders.

Each destination has two unique songs: local and romantic. All locals know the local song. Locals older than children know the romantic song, too.

Start a conversation with a local and then choose Learn Song. Pick from the offered songs.

Your Sim and the local will then go back and forth with your Sim repeating phrases of the song after the local until the song has been learned.

Once you have learned the song, you can sing it on your own. (There is even a chance your Sim may start singing one of the songs in the shower.) You can also teach the song to another Sim back home.

Not every Sim will react to your songs the same.

Sims with the following traits react positively to you singing a song within earshot: Artistic, Easily Impressed, Family-Oriented, Friendly, Excitable, Good, Hopeless Romantic, Party Animal, and Virtuoso. No Sense of Humor, Mean, Hot-Headed, Grumpy, Evil, Can’t Stand Art, and Dislikes Children Sims will actually boo.

The romantic song has an alternate use. Now, unlike my singing voice—which causes birds to run into windows on purpose—if your Sim sings the romantic song to a receptive Sim, it will put them in the mood for love.
