Heroes are defined by their actions. And in LEGO Batman 3, you’ve no shortage of heroic feats to perform!
Fighting
Standing tall in the face of evil is the hallmark of a true hero. When villains and goons threaten to overwhelm you, respond in kind and beat the bricks out of them! You can defeat most goons and cronies with a few heroic punches, but more powerful villains require extra effort to subdue. Simply press the Attack button to unleash your hero’s particular brand of offense.
Breaking Stuff
It may not seem very heroic, but smashing stuff is a great way to discover hidden goodies. If something appears to be made out of LEGO bricks, try smashing it and see what pops out. You almost always find studs—the main form of currency in LEGO Batman 3—but you might also discover something even more useful, like hopping bricks that can be built into new objects. In short, smash everything in sight and see how much property damage you can cause!
Building Stuff
If you ever notice a pile of hopping LEGO bricks, it’s a sure bet that you can build something out of them. Simply approach hopping LEGO bricks and hold the Action button to start building. Whatever you build is sure to be useful!
Activating Panels
In order to progress through most levels, you usually need to activate a lever or panel at some point. Most of these interactions are obvious: you just approach the panel and then press the Action button to activate it. However, some panels require special abilities to activate. For example, techno panels can only be activated by characters that have the techno ability.
Using Abilities
What would a super hero be without clever gadgets and mighty abilities? In LEGO Batman 3, almost every character has some special power that they’re just itching to unleash. Many of these abilities can be used simply by tapping or holding either the Attack button or the Action button. However, some abilities are “passive” in nature and simply function at all times (like The Flash’s super-speed or Superman’s invulnerability to fire). See the previous “Characters and Abilities” chapter to learn all about each hero’s unique traits!
Special Suits
Batman and Robin (and a few other characters) can instantly gain new weapons and abilities by changing into different suits. To unlock these special suits, seek out Suit Tokens as you explore. Each Suit Token that you collect unlocks a special gadget-packed adventuring suit, which may then be worn by any character that can use it. For example, collecting the Magnet Suit Token unlocks the Magnet Suit for both Robin and Cyborg. Hold the Tag button to view all of a character’s suits (if they can use them) and pick one to wear. You can also cycle through a character’s suits by pressing the trigger buttons.
