Hub: Manhattan

Manhattan is the main hub area, which is divided into 20 districts. In addition, you can enter Avengers Tower to find more collectibles. There are 15 challenges to complete in this hub. Completion of each challenge rewards you by unlocking a character. Let’s take a look at the various challenges.

The Challenges

Unloki

There are 10 gold Loki statues scattered about Manhattan. You need a character with a laser or other ability to break gold LEGO objects. Destroy all the statues to unlock Loki (suit).

Vintage Set

There are seven Captain America trading cards to collect. Get them all to unlock Captain America (Bucky).

Chitauri Chitauri Bang Bang

After the Battle of New York, there is Chitauri wreckage all over the place. Since you don’t want it to fall into the wrong hands, destroy 15 of the wrecked Chitauri chariots to unlock Sif.

That Was Dramatic

There are 10 silver statues of Ultron that just aren’t in style. Destroy them all with missiles--or other silver smashing weapons—to unlock Ultron (MK1)

Against the Clock

Complete all 10 time trials in Manhattan and get a gold medal in each. Once completed, you unlock Speed. Note: Some races require flying characters, while some races are on the ground and may be performed by fast characters (such as Quicksilver) or using vehicles.

Smashing

There are 10 different smash challenges around Manhattan. Complete them all and achieve gold medals to unlock Ares.

Character Building

There are eight different character side missions in Manhattan. You must have a specific character in order to activate these missions. Once you complete all eight, you unlock the A.I.M. Agent.

HYDRAways

HYDRA has 10 hideouts inside Manhattan. First, unlock the HYDRA Coupe (Upper East Side, Hop Ski Jump Time Trial). Drive it up to the hideout and activate HYDRAways vehicle scanner, opening the hideout so you can destroy the computer inside. Destroy all the hideouts to unlock the HYDRA leader, Red Skull. 

Bart-On Target

There are 15 purple targets in the city. Use Hawkeye and shoot arrows into all of them to unlock Hawkeye (Classic).

Source Material

Manhattan contains 15 Marvel landmarks. Be sure to drive, fly, or walk by each one to add them to your collection. Once you find all of them, you unlock Iron Patriot.

Only Name in Clean Energy

Roxxon has placed their energy machinery around the city. Destroy all 10 of them and assemble the pieces into Stark clean energy devices to unlock Rescue.

Falling with Style

There are five open crates with pieces placed around the city. Smash the crates and assemble the pieces into super jumpers. Once you have found and built all five, you unlock Falcon (Classic)

Springers

In addition to the 5 springers placed in crates, there are an additional 25 springers that have been pre-built for you throughout Manhattan. Use all 30 of them and you unlock Batroc. The following springers will be picked up while completing races:

• Hop Ski Jump: 3, Upper East Side (1, Yorkville; 2 East Harlem; 2, Industrial District)
• Tower Up-- 3, East Village (2, Little Italy)
• What Goes Up--2, Little Italy (4, Financial District)

Hammer Time

Ten hammer drones are flying around Manhattan. Use a bigfig to melee attack them to unlock Detroit Steel.

Veronica

Collect the maximum number of studs to unlock The Collector. You need 99,999,999 studs to complete this challenge. Purchase the stud multiplier red bricks and activate them all if you want to get this character.

The Districts

A good way to ensure you get all the collectibles is to work on one district at a time. This section lists each district as well as which challenges and collectibles you can find there.

Central Park

There is a lot to do in Central Park. For destruction, you need to destroy a gold Loki statue, a silver Ultron statue, and a Chitauri chariot wreck. You also need to replace a Roxxon generator with a Stark device and smash a HYDRA hideaway. Hawkeye can shoot two targets here and a Captain America card is located in the park. Looking for Captain Britain? His character token is located in the center of the park underneath the bridge. Complete the Walk in the Park time trial in less than 75 seconds to unlock Captain America’s bike. Finally, get 13,000 studs in the Wreck and Parks smash challenge to unlock Abomination.

Columbus Circle

Columbus Circle is a very small district, however, there are still things to do. Jump on a springer and destroy a gold Loki statue. Finally, you can unlock Hawkeye’s Car by completing the Downtown Drift time trial in less than 90 seconds.

Dockyard

There is a springer crate in this district, as well as two other springers. Jump on all three. Look around the building for a Captain America card. There are also two character tokens in the Dockyard. The HYDRA Henchman is behind a bin in a corner by the building, while Aldrich Killian is on top of some large red containers.

East Harlem

There are two springers in East Harlem as well as two Chitauri chariot wrecks. Pick up a Captain America card underneath the train station and shoot a Hawkeye target. There is also a HYDRA hideaway and a Hammer drone in need of destruction. Don’t forget to break apart the Roxxon generator and replace it with a clean energy device. In addition, there is also a side mission to complete. Can’t Fight the Moon Knight requires that you have Moon Knight. Complete it to unlock both the Ancient Warrior and the Mooncopter.

East Village

East Village is another district with lots of things to do. There are four springers and a springer in a crate that needs to be built. Look for a Loki statue and two Ultron statues as well as a Chitauri wreck. There is a Captain America card in this area and a Roxxon generator, too. If you complete the Tower Up time trial in less than 30 seconds, you unlock the Stark Resilient. There are also a couple of smash challenges. Get 25,000 studs for the Smash Dispenser challenge to unlock Iron Monger. You need 20,000 studs to unlock Butterball in the Bull in a Chinatown challenge. Also, visit the following three landmarks: Avengers Tower, Marvel Comics HQ, and Grand Central Station. Finally, look for the token for Mandarin (Trevor Slattery) on a rooftop. To enter Avengers Tower, land on the Avengers Tower helicopter platform and walk through the door directly facing the Helipad.

Financial District

While in the Financial District, visit the Chrysler Building and the New York Bell Company—the two landmarks there. Destroy a Chitauri wreck as well as two Ultron statues. There are also four springers here, a HYDRA hideout, a Roxxon generator, a Hawkeye target and a Hammer drone. The Captain America card in this area is hovering over the spire at the top of the Chrysler Building. You can find a token for Count Nefaria on the roof of a building in the southwest corner of this district. Finally, complete the Smash Machine challenge by collecting 10,000 studs to unlock Kurse.

Hell’s Kitchen

This district has a springer that needs built, a Hammer drone, and a Hawkeye target. Visit both landmarks--Fogwell’s Gym and Nelson & Murdock. Complete the Road Rage smash challenge by collectin 10,000 studs to unlock Fandral. Collect the token for Daredevil outside of Nelson & Murdock. Finally, complete the Echo Location side mission with Daredevil to unlock Echo.

Industrial District

While in the Industrial District, visit Roxxon Tower to add it to your landmark collection. Destroy two Loki statues, a HYDRA hideout, a Hammer drone, and a Roxxon generator. Shoot at a Hawkeye target and use two springers. While there are no character tokens in this area, you can unlock a couple of characters. Complete the I’m Always Angry smash challenge (collecting 20,000 studs) to unlock Destroyer. Finish the Looper Heroes time trial in less than 115 seconds to get the S.H.I.E.L.D. car. Finally, try the Once Britain Twice Shy side mission as Captain Britain to unlock Union Jack, the Britmobile, and the Double Decker Bus.

Inwood

Inwood has a Loki statue, two Chitauri wrecks, and a HYDRA hideout. Use the springer and shoot both Hawkeye targets. Smash the Roxxon Generator and replace it with a Stark device. Complete the Unabridged time trial in less than 170 seconds to unlock Tony Stark’s car. The side mission here requires Taskmaster; complete Undefeated Champion to unlock Squirrel Girl and the Squirrel-a-Gig. Finally, collect a couple of character tokens here. Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) is located on the ledge off the side of the Avengers facility, while Ninja is off the side of the road at the very tip of the island.

Liberty Island

The Statue of Liberty is the famous landmark on Liberty Island. However, you can also build a springer here, destroy a Chitauri wreck, and shoot a Hawkeye target. Look for the Extremis Soldier token near the base of the statue. Finally, if you can complete the Lady Liberty time trial in less than 150 seconds, you unlock the HYDRA Tank Classic.

Little Italy

Little Italy has four springers and a Hawkeye target. While there, destroy the HYDRA hideout, a Loki statue, an Ultron statue, and two Chirauri wrecks. There are two time trials you can attempt. Complete the Criss Cross Circuit in less than 45 seconds to unlock the Police Car and finish the What Goes Up trial in less than 50 seconds to unlock Mandarin’s Helicoper. Finally, collect at least 10,000 studs in the Look! Smash! More! challenge to unlock Hogun.

Lower East Side

Destroy two Hammer drones and a Roxxon Generator in the Lower East Side. You can build a springer and use it as well as an existing springer here. Don’t forget to shoot an arrow at the Hawkeye target, too. Finally, complete the Ground-breaking smash challenge and collect 13,000 studs to unlock Heimdall.

Lower West Side

There are several things to destroy in the Lower West Side including a Loki statue, a Chitauri wreck, a HYDRA hideout, and a Roxxon generator. Hawkeye can shoot at two targets here. Look for a Captain America card inside a small tunnel underneath the road. Be sure to visit both the Sanctum Sanctorum as well as the Roxxon Power Station. There are also two character tokens. Doctor Strange is located on top of the Sanctum Sanctorum, while Ghost is on the roof of a building just behind the Sanctum Sanctorum. Finally, there are two side missions. You need Dr. Strange for Something Strange in Your Neighborhood; complete it to unlock Wiccan. Lastly, bring Luke Cage to complete MODOK Operandi to unlock four different characters: Beta Ray Bill, America Chavez, Swordsman, and She-Hulk!

Soho

This district is where the S.H.I.E.L.D. Barber Shop is located. Just one block south, you can find the token for Iron Fist on the sidewalk next to a building. This area also has a Chitauri wreck, a Hammer drone, and a Hawkeye target.

Times Square

Times Square only has a few things to do. After visiting the Gem Theater, destroy a HYDRA hideout and a Hammer drone. That’s it for this district!

Upper East Side

The Upper East Side has several things to destroy: a Loki statue, an Ultron statue, a Chitauri wreck, a Hammer drone, and a HYDRA hideout. Shoot at a Hawkeye target and jump on three springers. Also, visit the Griffith Hotel right across from Central Park. If you can complete the Hop Skip Jump time trial in less than 65 seconds, you will unlock the HYDRA Coupe.

Upper West Side

There are only two goals in this district: Smash a Chitauri Chariot wreck and collect a Captain America card located on the train tracks.

Washington Heights

Washington Heights has one Loki statue and two Ultron statues. While destroying them, take out the HYDRA hideout and a Hammer drone. Look for a Roxxon generator to replace, too. You can also find the Moon Knight token on top of an old building in this district. There are two smash challenges: Collect 15,000 studs in Hulk Smash! to unlock Volstagg and collect 13,000 studs in I Kind of Broke Harlem to get Korvac. Also, complete the side mission The Best Offence using Ronin (Echo) to unlock Luke Cage.

West Harlem

West Harlem has an Ultron Statue and a Chitauri wreck to destroy. Look for a Roxxon generator and break it to replace it with a Stark device. Finally, there is a side mission, Shadow of Ronin, for which you need Iron Fist; complete it to unlock Ronin and Ronin (Echo).

Yorkville

There are only three objectives in Yorkville. Jump on the single springer and take a visit to the Avengers Mansion. Finally, complete the Bad Altitude time trial in less than 75 seconds to unlock the Police Bike.

Avengers Tower

Land on the Avengers Tower helipad and use the door to enter the building to find four character tokens. Smash a telescope to get the Captain Universe token. Pepper Potts is located inside a piano, so break it to get the token. The Iron Man MK5 is located inside a suitcase. Finally, enter the lab to find the Ant-Man (classic) token.
