LEGO Marvel's Avengers Guide Characters
Character Abilities
Most heroes possess at least one ability from the following table. Use the following table to learn more about abilities.
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
| Agile | All Agile characters can use grip walls and Twirl Poles. Some Agile characters are able to double jump. |
| Beam | Beam attacks are ranged abilities that persist until you stop pressing the button used to activate it. Characters cannot move while using a Beam attack. Beam is the only way to cut through a Gold LEGO wall. |
| Big | Big characters are so large that they cannot move in smaller areas, use levers, ride in vehicles, or assemble LEGO bricks into new objects. |
| Black LEGO | Barely a handful of characters are capable of manipulating black LEGO bricks. |
| Blue LEGO | The character uses a sonic-based attack to shatter objects built from blue LEGO bricks. |
| Charged Attack | Hold the Use button to charge up a special attack (most often a spinning attack), then release the button to begin the attack. |
| Climb | Super strong characters dig their fingers into many smooth surfaces to pull themselves up to higher areas. |
| Cracked | Only characters with this ability can break through the cracked bricks that sometimes appear on walls and floors. |
| Debris Pick-Up | In certain locations, these characters can rip up a chunk of the ground and use it as a club or projectile. |
| Decoys | Hold the Use button to summon game-controlled duplicates or subordinates. Only one pair can be active at a time. |
| Defensive Shield | Tap the Use button to put up a shield. Energy fields (such as Nova’s) keep characters safe. Physical shields (like Captain America’s) are held in front of characters to keep them safe and they can be used to extinguish fires. |
| Deflect (Bullet) | Characters deflect incoming bullets so long as they aren’t in the middle of another action. |
| Deflect (Laser) | Characters deflect incoming laser blasts so long as they aren’t in the middle of another action. |
| Dig | Watch for special dig spots. Some are locations to dig up something from under the ground. Others are tunnel locations, which allow characters to reach otherwise blocked locations. |
| Electricity | Certain characters project electricity (some must charge up first) as an attack or into Electricity Panels, to activate them. |
| Flight | Several characters possess the ability to fly through the air and hover. Press the jump button twice to start flying. |
| Flight (Boosted Launch) | Hold the Jump button to get a burst of speed at take-off. May be available only in Hubs. |
| Glide | Hold the Jump button while falling to glide. |
| Gold LEGO (cut) | Heat-Based Beam attacks that cut through walls built from gold LEGO bricks. |
| Gold LEGO (melt) | Heat-based beam and arrow attacks melt gold LEGO objects, but not walls. |
| Grapple | These characters can pull on grapple handles for a variety of benefits. |
| Grate | A handful of characters are able to change their body shape or size to fit through Grates that lead to locations not accessible in any other way. |
| HYDRA Access | Characters with this attribute can use S.H.I.E.L.D. Access Terminals a second time. Watch for the logo on the ground in front of the terminal to change. |
| Ice | The ability to freeze enemies, put out fires, and freeze puddles of water into useful objects. |
| Immunity | Immunity grants resistance to specific hazards. A rare few characters are resistant to everything, even damage. |
| Jump Attack | Most characters have a standard jump attack, but characters with the Jump Attack attribute perform a more powerful attack, such as Captain America landing on his shield. |
| Mind Control | Allows characters to dominate the minds of targets with “?” symbols over their head. |
| Projectile | Projectiles are single-shot, ranged attacks. Tapping the attack button results in rapid shots and allow your character to continue moving. Holding the attack button brings up a targeting icon, which allows precision shots. |
| Regen | Regen slowly restores health to characters after they take damage. |
| S.H.I.E.L.D. Access | S.H.I.E.L.D. Access Terminals recognize characters with this attribute. |
| Scan | Using technology or special senses, these characters can reveal otherwise hidden bricks or objects. |
| Shield Switch | Captain America’s shield acts as the key to unlock the red, white, and blue objects found throughout the game. |
| Silver LEGO | These characters possess explosive attacks that break objects built with silver LEGO bricks. |
| Stealth | Stealthy characters can become undetectable by security cameras and enemies. |
| Super Jump | Hold the jump button to charge a higher than normal leap into the air. |
| Super Strength | Super Strength allows characters to pick up vehicles and pull Green Strength Handles. |
| Swing | The character uses special devices to swing above the ground. |
| Tech | These characters can operate Technology Panels. |
| Telekinetic Power | Characters with Telekinetic Power manipulate specially-marked objects. They also assemble objects with their mind instead of their hands. |
| Thrown Weapon | Hold the attack button and select a target or group of targets. Your character will throw whatever weapon they carry (an axe, or shield), which then hits the selected targets and returns. While the weapon is in the air, your character’s attack becomes basic punches. |
| Transform | A few characters can transform from one character to another. For example, Bruce Banner can transform into the Hulk and back. |
| Vehicle Pick-Up | These characters are strong enough to pick up vehicles and carry them around. |
