Study

Where do Sims go to learn and sometimes laugh? The study. While not an essential room—the furniture and objects in the office can be placed in other rooms—the study serves as a good place for industrious Sims to fine-tune skills such as Cooking and Handiness via books.

And writers need a computer to work on their bad books so they can eventually create a good one. Not everybody pens Crime and Punishment on their first try, you know.

Basic Study

When you’re first starting out, there isn’t much need for an extreme home office—just a place to check online postings, play the occasional computer game, and stack books that help develop necessary skills. Once the money starts rolling in, the study can be upgraded with extras that increase the environment rating.

The Refinement Room

Here, grand novels are written. With a window overlooking the serene outdoors, the serious (and highly successful) author sits and composes yet another 700-page masterpiece about the human condition, the ties that bind, and the mortal coil. That is, if they can peel their eyes off the painting that set them back an entire royalty check.
