Call-out Locations

Red Base

Other Names: Top Base, Bottom Base, Top Red, Bottom Red, Red Flag, Flag Spawn, Territory 5
Red Base is one of two identical bases located on the map. They are the spawn locations for Red and Blue teams for Team Slayer and Objective game types. Red Base is located next to the beach and has two levels, Top Red and Bottom Red. Behind Red Base, you will find a landing pad, called Red Banshee Pad. A Banshee is resting on this pad, and there’s a small beach behind the pad called Back Red. To the side of the Banshee sits a Warthog. Red Base also is the Territory 5 for Territory games.

Top Red

Other Names: N/A
Top Red features two Man Cannons. Stepping on the Man Cannon positioned at an angle will take you to a group of rocks and trees. Resting next to the Man Cannon are two Battle Rifles, two Plasma Grenades, and two SMGs. Stepping on the center Man Cannon will push you forward to the midpoint of the creek flowing before you. There is a fusion coil sitting atop the center Man Cannon. Top Red also has two Mongooses, one Spiker, one Power Drain, one Missile Pod, and one exploding barrel, and it houses the flag in Capture the Flag (CTF) games.

Bottom Red

Other names: N/A
There are three entrances into Bottom Red. One entrance is located in the back of the base in front of Red Banshee Pad. There is one Sniper Rifle and two Frag Grenades next to this entrance. The other two entrances are located on either side of the back entrance. A Battle Rifle and Plasma Pistol appear next to each of these entrances. Bottom Red is also the location for planting the bomb in Assault and One Bomb games.

Red Cliff Side Spawn

Other names: Side Spawn
If you step on the angled Man Cannon, it will land you next to a group of trees and rocks. Searching around this area, you will find a Battle Rifle and a Spiker. The cliffs to the far right of these trees and rocks are known as Red Cliff Side Spawn, and they contain two Plasma Grenades.

Turret Cave

Other names: Territory 3
Next to those trees and rocks, you will see a large pathway through the mountain known as Turret Cave. There is a Battle Rifle inside the pathway. On the path’s left side, next to the river, is an opened Drop Pod with an SMG and two Frag Grenades. Turret Cave also is the Territory 5 for Territory games.

Mid Creek

Other names: Mid River, Red Man Cannon Landing
Mid Creek is the area to the left of the opened Drop Pod in the middle of the creek. If you step onto the center Man Cannon back in Red Base, it will take you to Mid Creek and land you almost exactly on top of a Battle Rifle.

Sniper Rock

Other names: N/A
If you follow the creek back to Red Base and move to the creek’s other side (to your right), you will find a large flat rock called Sniper Rock. This is a popular sniping location because of the vantage point and good visibility of the map.

Pelican Cave

Other names: Territory 4
Scaling the side of the cliff next to Sniper Rock, you will approach a small cave housing a Shotgun, two Plasma Grenades, and one Battle Rifle. This cave is known as Pelican Cave and is Territory 4 for Territory games.

Pelican

Other names: Territory 2
Travel through the cave to approach a downed Pelican. This area is simply known as Pelican and provides excellent cover during battles. Near the cockpit of the Pelican is a Regenerator lying on the ground. The area next to the Regenerator is also Territory 2 of Territory games.

Top Mid

Other names: Laser Spawn, Mid Map
Next to the Pelican is a large hill with the many tall trees; this is called Top Mid. Controlling Top Mid is essential in Team Slayer and in most Objective games. Top Mid provides the best vantage point for the entire map; you can see almost every section on the map from here. Mid Map also has the only Laser and contains a Battle Rifle and two Frag Grenades. The Battle Rifle is located just below the large rock on the lower side of Top Mid, facing the other base. This rock is known as BR Rock.

Mid Cliff Side

Other names : Mid Cliff
Located to the side of Top Mid, just above the creek, is a little cliff or nook called Mid Cliff Side. You will find a Battle Rifle and two Frag Grenades on it.

Shotgun Cave

Other names : N/A
To the left of Top Mid and in front of Pelican is a little cave called Shotgun Cave. It houses a Battle Rifle, two Sticky Grenades, and one Shotgun.

Snow Side

Other names : N/A
On the other side of Shotgun Cave is a snowy area hidden by landscape called Snow Side. From Snow Side, you can see the waterfall and the second base.

Blue Base

Other names : N/A
The other base is known as Blue Base and is identical to Red Base in structure, weapons, and equipment. The Banshee Pad is called Blue Banshee Pad and the area behind it is Back Blue.

Mid Cannon Landing

Other names : N/A
The center Man Cannon on Blue Base will take you to a bald patch or flat rock surface in front of BR Rock. This surface is known as Man Cannon Landing.

Blue Spawn

Other names : Blue Rocks, Blue Cliff Side Spawn
The rocks at the far left side of Blue Base (opposite the waterfall) are called Blue Rocks. Two Plasma Grenades are located there.

Water Rocks

Other names : Water Cave, River Cave, Territory 1
Following the creek away from the waterfall, you will approach a passage situated between a large rock and the cliff side. There is a smaller rock leaning against the larger rock, splitting the passage in two. This area is known as Water Rocks. Alongside the large rock is a Battle Rifle, two Frag Grenades, and a Spiker. The area next to these weapons is Territory 1 for Territory games. On the other side of the passage to the right is an SMG lying against a small rock. To the left of the passageway against the Forerunner Wall (large metal wall) is an opened Drop Pod with a Brute Shot, Battle Rifle, and two Frag Grenades. Looking directly in front of the passage is a large antenna and a Turret.

Radio Antenna

Other names : Turret Side, Antenna
The radio antenna has a Mongoose and one Bubble Shield. Just beyond the antenna, against the Forerunner Wall opposite the opened Drop Pod, is a Brute Shot.

Turret

Other names : Turret Rock
The area where the Turret is positioned is simply known as Turret. To the Turret’s left are two Plasma Grenades. From the Turret and radio antenna, you will see the other side of Turret Cave

Enhanced Knowledge

Team Slayer Tactics

Work with your team to hold a base or position wherever you may spawn. For example, if your team spawns near the Pelican Cave, stay there and hold that area, using Pelican Cave as cover. If you spawn later, in Top Mid, stay in that area and hold it, firing at the enemy. Also, stay under cover. Do not run out in the middle of the map with no cover. You will be picked off immediately.
Controlling Top Mid is extremely advantageous for Team Slayer and Objective games. You will be able to see almost every location on the map, every vehicle, and every person on the other team. While holding Top Mid, use the Spartan Laser or Sniper Rifle to support your team.
Short-range weapons mostly come in handy for enclosed areas such as Blue and Red Base or Shotgun Cave and Pelican Cave.
Have no more than two people in the Warthog at one time. Unless you are using the Warthog as transportation, do not use that third seat. You are unable to fire accurately in that seat, and if the Warthog is destroyed, you give the opposing team a triple kill! Use the Power Slide ability to execute quick turns without rolling.
During Team Slayer games, you will frequently spawn in your base. If you notice your team has been spawning outside the base instead of inside, there is probably a member of the other team hiding out in your base.
The Banshee is excellent for Team Slayer. It can be a devastating attack for the other team. If your team can control the Spartan Laser and the Banshee operator can evade the Missile Launcher, you will be on your way to winning the match.
Remember, the other team has a Banshee, too, so try to destroy their Banshee with your Banshee immediately. If a Banshee is not available, destroy the enemy Banshee with the Spartan Laser, Missile Pod, Power Drain, Warthog Turret, or Machinegun Turret. You can even effectively use the Battle Rifle or Plasma Pistol. If you are a footman and notice your Banshee is sparring with the enemy Banshee, help your Banshee with these weapons as well.

One Flag, Multiflag, One Bomb, and Assault Tactics

Defense

Place your players wisely on the map. Do not completely desert the base to capture the power weapons, but do not have everybody hide in the base waiting for the eventual attack from the bomb carrier or flag bandit either. Send a few to patrol the area. Get the Spartan Laser to take out approaching vehicles, and use the Sniper Rifle to take out footmen before they get into your base. The Turret can also help quickly destroy a group of footmen. Leave a few teammates inside the base to protect the exits. Preferably, use short-range power weapons inside the base, such as the Shotgun or dual-wield SMGs or Spikers.

For Multiflag games, try to balance the number of players who are protecting your flag versus the number of players who are capturing the other team’s flag.
Watch out for Mongooses and Warthogs coming from the outer edges of the map. Use the Spartan Laser, Power Drain, and Plasma Pistols on them.
If the opposing teams grabs your flag, consider taking a Mongoose or Man Cannon to cut them off before they make with the flag.
Remember, you cannot see the enemy’s bomb or your stolen flag when the other team has possession of them. The Banshee is excellent for instantly spotting and stopping your captured flag or the bomb carrier. Keep in mind that the other team has a Banshee, so try to help destroy that Banshee with the Spartan Laser or Missile Pod.
An optional and amusing tactic for protecting your base from bombings or flag captures is to pile a bunch of vehicles on your flag or bomb region. This complicates capturing the flag or planting the bomb, because the other team will not be able to find it through the mess of vehicles!

Offense

Never try to take the flag or plant the bomb by yourself. Coordinate an attack with your teammates. Have a team member or two attempt to capture Top Mid, where they can use the Spartan Laser effectively. Have someone from your base use the Sniper Rifle to take out any footmen trying to gain Top Mid. Once Top Mid is captured, the sniper may want to sit on this location while supporting your bomb carrier or helping your flag man while he escapes with the flag.
Driving the Warthog or Mongoose with the flag or bomb in the passenger seat is the best strategy. The Warthog and Mongoose can get your team into the base, where you can capture the flag or plant the bomb and then get out within minutes. All three of the seats in the Warthog should be full (a driver, a Turret operator, and a footman to plant the bomb or capture the flag). Depending on your team’s size, you may also want to take a fully loaded Mongoose with your Warthog so you can overwhelm the other team.
Crouch-walking makes you invisible to enemy radar. While storming the base, crouch-walking can be an excellent method for sneaking in undetected with the bomb or grabbing the flag when the other team is not looking.
If you have possession of the bomb or flag, do not hang on to it for dear life when someone is trying to kill you. You can get an instant kill with a bomb or flag melee, but sometimes it’s best to drop your load and fight off the other team with your weapons on hand. You can pick up your load after.
When playing Assault or One Bomb, do not abandon your planted bomb. Stay around and protect the ticking time bomb so the other team does not disarm it. If necessary, stay until the bomb detonates. Throw Grenades or Power Drains on the bomb when the other team attempts to disarm it.
For CTF games, when you have just snatched the flag, determine what course you should take—for example, go on foot or take the Warthog. If your team has control of the Spartan Laser, consider taking the Warthog. If the other team controls Top Mid with the Laser, you may want to go on foot.
If you are going on foot, try to “hop” from cover to cover (such as going to the Turret Cave, the Antenna, the Water Rocks, and then to Blue Base) instead of running down the middle of the map (such as running from Mid Creek to Top Mid to Man Cannon Landing to Blue Base).

Territories

There are two main tactics you can use for Territory game types:
First Tactic: Try sending a couple of small groups (in sizes of 2 or 3) to take two territories at the same time. This will hopefully confuse the other team and cause disarray. In addition, the other team will probably split up into small groups and defend each territory at once, giving you even chances of surviving an encounter. The Regenerator will be an effective tool for maintaining your shields while capturing territories.
Second Tactic: Instead of sending out two small teams, consider going as one large unit and taking each territory one at a time. If your teammates are better marksmen than the other team, then you may outshoot them. Also, your larger numbers may overwhelm the other team.
VIP
Gaining control of Top Mid is not as important for VIP games. Usually the VIP is hidden inside bases, and it is useless to use long-range weapons such as the Spartan Laser or Sniper Rifle. However, just because your target is hidden does not mean you want to sacrifice map control as well.
Disperse your players wisely on the map. Send out your team to attack the other VIP, but do not leave your team’s VIP defenseless. Use short-range power weapons such as the Shotgun or dual wield weapons.
Attacking and Defending the VIP
The popular method for VIP games is to let your VIP camp in a protected area such as Red Base or Blue Base. Since the VIP is usually hiding, use powerful short-range weapons to kill or protect the VIP. Use Plasma Grenades or Shotguns, or dual wield weapons.
Give your VIP the best weapons with which to protect himself, such as the Shotgun.
Opposing VIPs probably should not hunt each other down. Remember, the target for both teams is the other VIP. Placing the two VIPs together will cause both teams to converge in one large catastrophe.
An opposite method for VIP games is to make the VIP a constant moving target. Have the VIP get on the back of a Mongoose and ride like crazy, never stopping. This may work, depending on which team has the Missile Pod, Spartan Laser, or Sniper Rifle.

Sniping

Red Base/Blue Base

Use the Banshee to reach the top of Red or Blue Base. Stand on top of the base or on a ledge near the top and snipe from there. The vantage point is great!

Turret Wall

Try sniping in the small nook at the back of the Turret Wall/Forerunner Wall.

Red Base Ledge

To reach a ledge midway up the base, use Grenade-jumping or team-jumping up the back of Red Base on the slanted, smooth side (while continuously jumping up the smooth side). However, vision is limited.

Territory 1

The Pelican and Territory 1 is an optional sniping position.

Sniper Rock

Sniper Rock is far enough away from enemy fire and allows a quick retreat into the rocks for cover from Grenades or long-range weapons.
