Call-out Locations

Blue Base

Other Names: N/A
Blue Base is identified by the glowing blue orb located above it.

Red Base

Other Names: N/A
Red Base is identified by the glowing red orb located above it.

Grav Lift Spawn

Other names: N/A
The Grav Lift spawns in the bottom middle of map. Here a player can access a semienclosed enclave to locate the Grav Lift. This area has four entrances: two facing the Red and Blue bases and the other two facing the sides of the map.

Ant Hill

Other names: N/A
Located on the right side of each base are low-rising, sand-buried structures known as Ant Hills. These are great from which to defend against an enemy attack.  Resting alongside these areas, facing the base, is a Battle Rifle.

Obelisks

Other names: N/A
Rising from the sand to create the “edge” of Sandbox’s playing field are several areas known as “Obelisks.” Several weapons rest against and in front of these pillars. Depending on which side of the map you are located, you’ll find a Battle Rifle or a Brute Shot.

Rocket Block

Other names: N/A
Always a coveted location, the Rocket Block contains the Rocket Launcher, which is a power weapon. Rush this location to ensure stealth attacks on the opponent’s vehicle.

Bubble Shield Block

Other names: N/A
The Bubble Shield Block is located on the front side of each base. Here, the Bubble Shield stands ready to protect the masterchief from harmful gunfire and Grenade attacks.

Corners

Other names: N/A
Along the “edge” of Sandbox, you’ll find what are known as the Corners. These odd-shaped stone corners provide ample cover for ducking in and out of gunfire.

Dunes

Other names: N/A
Sandbox is surrounded by sand. On the outskirts of the map, the players will see the Dunes, fortified by forerunner structures of years past.

Enhanced Knowledge

For Slayer games, it is best to get control of both sets of Rockets. Do this by running to the ones that spawn closest to your base and throwing the Power Drain over the Rockets. Quickly take out opponents who rush for their Rockets.

Controlling Rockets and using the Warthog is an easy and quick way to win a match. The only weapon that is really dangerous is the Missile Pod.

If the other team has a Warthog, stay in the base, because most of the map is fairly open and the Warthog can easily take you down.

To take out an enemy Warthog, use the Missile Pod or Rocket Launcher. Two Sticky Grenades will also destroy this vehicle.

If the opposing team has an Overshield, use the Needler to take them out.

Use the Grav Lift located in front of the base to quickly reach the top of the base, where you can confront opponents.

When playing Capture the Flag, have one person stay in the base to toss the flag off the base and help keep the opposing team from returning it.

A quick way to get into a base is by using the jump block that is located on the base’s left side.

You can use the Power Drain to keep your opponent off the objective, such as the flag or bomb.

Utilize vehicles for faster travel across the map when you’re trying to capture the flag or plant the bomb.

The Chopper is great for splattering recently spawned foes and flipping Warthogs with the Chopper’s guns.

A new Chopper will always win in a collision with a new Warthog and will kill everyone in the Warthog.

The angled blocks can serve as great cover while in a heated battle.

When under heavy fire, deploy the Regenerator to regain shields and jump back into fire. Putting the Regenerator behind some cover will almost always guarantee you a win in the fight.

If the other team has shorter-ranged weapons, a good place to camp is on the sand dunes, but do not forget to watch your ammo.

When Rockets or a Missile Pod aren’t handy, you can use the Brute Shot to flip a Warthog.

While driving the Warthog, it is best to stay toward the outside of the map and kill off the spawn, because there are a lot of obstacles to avoid on the main part of the map.

Tossing the Power Drain over the base’s top and toward the map’s other side can bring down many players’ shields.

Try to steal the opponent’s Warthog; without one of these vehicles, your foe doesn’t stand a chance with the respawns. Drive a Mongoose or a Warthog to the back of the enemy base to steal their Warthog.

If the other team is using a Regenerator, the Needler is a quick and easy solution. The Needler quickly kills even full-health players and reloads very fast.

Advanced Tactics

Timing the Overshield will give your team a good advantage. The Overshield spawns three minutes after it has been last picked up.
Crouch-jumping on the base’s side will enable you to slide up the side without having to use the jump box.
Because the Battle Rifle and Carbine spawn atop the base, camping the other team’s base with these weapons makes for easy killing, as they will spawn out in the open with shorter-range weapons.
The Bubble Shield can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes. If an enemy is chasing you into a Bubble Shield, toss a Grenade inside the Bubble Shield and jump out. Doing so will severely hurt your enemy and will make an easy kill.
It can be easy to trick your enemy in Capture-the-Flag games. Throw the flag to the bottom of the opponent’s base so they attempt to return it. Have one person behind the base in a Warthog or Mongoose and another person waiting for the returned flag. The enemy will be so preoccupied with the previous flag that it will almost make capturing their flag seem easy.
To rush the other base, one strategy is to grab the Grav Lift from Bottom Mid and place it in front of the opponent’s Regenerator spawn. With the Grav Lift deployed, grab the Regenerator and throw it near the base of the Grav Lift. To take out several enemies without dying, just float up and down on the Grav Lift and let the Regenerator heal you when your shields drop.
Throwing a Bubble Shield can be an excellent lure for enemy Warthogs. Stay in the Bubble Shield as the Warthog drives toward you; when the vehicle is close enough to jump over, jump and throw a Sticky Grenade on it. You can also easily assassinate the Warthog gunner while they drive by.
Timing the enemy’s Missile Pod is essential if your team has a Warthog. When the Missile Pod respawns, just waste all of its shots because they’re not very accurate unless they’re targeting a vehicle. This will allow your team to keep spawn-killing the other team.
When in a Regenerator and if an opponent is rushing you, switch to a shorter-range weapon. Six on-target Assault Rifle shots and a beatdown will kill the opponent.
Strafing behind the Obelisks and Corners is a good way to distract the opposing team; then your teammates can kill the players who chase you[. It is also easy to bank Grenades off the Obelisks if the other players are hiding as well.

Sniper/Ambush Locations

Grav Lift Spawn Ambush

As you rush for the Grav Lift, hide within the small corridors of the Grav Lift Spawn so you can melee your opponents as they rush in. Also, while in a gunfight, you can easily duck and cover within the four entrances to this area.

Sand Dunes

Most players will take to the sides and center of the map to attack their opponents. Knowing this, rush the outskirts of the map—either on foot or in a warthog—to take out the opposing team as they rush. They won’t notice you until it’s too late!

Back/Top Base

This area is often the best place from which to snipe at your opponents. In doing so, you have the back of your base to take cover in. Starting from the top, if you are fired upon, you can drop back, take cover, and snipe off the sides.
