Interacting with the environment in some capacity is not only allowed in every match type, but it’s good strategy to damage your opponent.
Even in a match with disqualifications and ring count-outs, it may benefit you to use the available—and legal—ringside objects to hack away some of opposing Superstar hit points. Make sure you understand the rules of the match from the previous chapter, “Basic Controls and Match Types,” and take full advantage of what is allowed.
Ringside
Slamming your opponent into the concrete not only makes an incredible crunching sound, it
increases the level of damage you inflict. Sling your opponent out of the ring and put together a few moves off the mat before you’re counted out.
Steps
This object serves two purposes: First, you can slam or Irish Whip your opponent into the steel steps at some corners of the ring. After they are broken loose from the ring, they are free to be picked up and carried like an object.
Corner Post
When the steps are broken loose the corner post is exposed. Irish Whip your opponent into the post and he’ll slump over, leaning on it groggily. Press the grapple button and you’ll slam his head into the post.
Security Fence
Irish Whip your opponent into the fence to do damage and take control. Strike or grapple to unload a knockdown blow.
Announcer Table
Blasting through the announcer table is another “legal” option when disqualifications are on. Plus, destroying the table makes Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross stand up for the rest of the match for a satisfying extra bonus.
Under the Ring
In many different match types you’ll be able to legally reach under the ring and pull out objects. There’s a bunch to choose from, and they are used in different ways.
Cane
This is a great object that scores a quick hit. You’ll knock your opponent to the mat.
Ladder
Ladders can be used to strike with, slam opponents into, and serve as takeoff points for dive attacks.
Table
Using tables allows you to strike your opponent from afar, and you can lean them up in corners for a powerful Irish Whip. Set up the table and lay a groggy opponent down on it for a spectacular dive attack finish.
Trash Can
Slam your opponent into the trash can with a D-Throw or pick it up and strike with it.
Chair
Set up the chair in the corner and use an Irish Whip. A strike will knock your opponent to the mat; press grapple to thread the Superstar’s body through the chair and then stomp it for damage.
Sledgehammer
Strikes with the sledgehammer will send your opponent buckling to the mat.
Mop
Strike the opponent with the mop in different ways.
Out of the Crowd
Throughout the match, objects may randomly appear in the crowd. You’ll be prompted with a button on-screen when you get close, and your Superstar will rip the object out of the hand of the spectator.
Guitar
Fan checklist: WWE T-shirt…check. Funny sign…check. Guitar? Well, this guy brought one and you can swing it.
Soda
This is a clever animation—your Superstar will pour a soda on your opponent.
Crutch
Use a crutch to smash your opponent.
Title Championship
Grab the title championship from the fan when it shows up.
