HEX is out to stop you from rescuing guests and has sent his bots to attack you. The only way to get through the levels in one piece is to fight back. No matter which costume you are wearing, you always have a tool that you can use to fight off enemies. It is important to know the types of attacks and combos you can perform when fighting.
Combos
Simple Attack
This swing with your tool causes some damage if you hit a target. Press the Attack button to perform a simple attack.
Air Attack
Some enemies fly above the reach of your simple attack. Therefore, you need to jump up into the air to hit them. To perform an air attack, press the Jump button while facing the enemy and then, while in midair, press the Attack button. This usually knocks a flying enemy down to the ground.
Ground Slam Attack
This is another combo that combines jumping and attacking. Perform a double-jump and while in midair, press and hold the Attack button. As you land, you slam your tool into the ground and cause more damage than normal to whatever you hit and also create a small shock wave that damages others nearby.
Uppercut
Hold down the Attack button and after a brief pause, you perform an uppercut. This attack causes more damage than a simple attack and can hit more than one enemy since it has a wider swing.
Uppercut and Slam
When using an uppercut, continue to hold down the Attack button as you automatically jump up into the air. When you come down, you come down with a ground slam. This is a great attack when fighting lots of enemies all around you.
Dodge
When fighting against mini-bosses, a button icon appears on the screen as the mini-boss prepares for an attack. By pressing that button, you can dodge the attack and the mini-boss will be stunned temporarily because it missed you.
This gives you the perfect opportunity to go after the mini-boss with your array of attacks and combos.
Health
When you get hit or take damage, you health meter appears as curved bars around the base of your character. When the health bars all disappear, you respawn with a full health meter.
As you defeat enemies, some leave behind red hearts. Collect these hearts to restore health bars. Respawning has a negative effect on your rating at the end of a location.
