Once you have a Level 10 Assassin available, and not currently occupied on a contract, visit an Assassin Den where the Master Assassin Mission icon appears (), and walk into the highlighted area. Pick him from the interface to assign him as Den Leader, then speak to him to begin the first part of the Master Assassin Mission unique to that Den.
You can assign Den Leaders to all six Dens in the Imperial, Bayezid and Constantine districts after removing Templar control from those areas. Completing Part 1 of all six missions unlocks the Master Assassin’s Armor, and there are some rather fine weapons provided by individual Memories.
Better still, completing Part 2 of each Den’s Master Assassin Missions will cause that Den to become “locked”, and immune to Templar attacks. Once you have finished them all, the Den Defense scenarios will cease to occur – which is something to bear in mind if you really enjoy the mini-game.
Note
There is a Challenge that requires you to provoke and win three Den Defense scenarios. If you would like to achieve 100% Synch, be sure to complete this requirement before you finish all Master Assassin Missions.
Mission: The Deacon, Part 1
Availability
Assign a Leader to the Bayezid North Den.
Bonus Reward
Unlocks Yusuf’s Turkish Kijil at the Assassin’s HQ.
Walkthrough
Head to the waypoint, then run up the steps and scan the individual standing opposite a tree on the upper level to complete the Full Synch objective; speak to him to advance the story. When the conversation ends, travel to the next waypoint, avoiding the obvious route if you wish to skip conflict with the Templars in the area.
Use Eagle Sense when prompted to identify the target to the right of the Tunnel Entrance, then escort your Den Leader to the waterfront via the waypoints.
Mission: The Deacon, Part 2
Availability
Train the Bayezid North Den Leader to Level 14, with a full XP gauge.
Walkthrough
After speaking with your Den Leader, head up the steps to the left of a Romani group, a short walk south from the Memory Start position. Scan the corpse with Eagle Sense, then follow the Deacon’s trail until you reach a waypoint.
When your Den Leader lures the target away, give chase but maintain a reasonable degree of distance. When you reach the ambush site, equip the Hidden Blade and run over to perform an assassination (to satisfy the Full Synch condition) before the fight can begin.
Mission: The Trickster, Part 1
Availability
Assign a Leader to the Constantine North Den.
Bonus Reward
Unlocks Mehmet’s Dagger at the Assassin’s HQ.
Walkthrough
Walk with your Den Leader, then follow the marked Romanies. There are several potential ambushes along the path, but you can foil these by activating Eagle Sense; assassinate all targets marked by a light red glow.
After the cutscene, you must use the Disarm technique to defeat the Ottoman Elites; to complete the Full Synch requirement, achieve this before any of the Romanies are killed. There is an easy way to meet this condition: if one of the onscreen Romani health meters falls below three blocks, kill one of the guards to cause immediate Desynchronization, then try again from the checkpoint.
Mission: The Trickster, Part 2
Availability
Train the Constantine North Den Leader to Level 14, with a full XP gauge.
Walkthrough
Ensure that you have at least two or three doses of Poison before you begin this Memory. Activate Eagle Sense and follow the trail – ignoring the red lines indicating guard patrols – until you reach The Trickster’s position south of a Blacksmith on the west side of the Constantine district. Hit her with a Poison Dart to both complete the Memory and satisfy the Full Synch requirement.
Mission: The Champion, Part 1
Availability
Assign a Leader to the Bayezid South Den.
Bonus Reward
Unlocks the Almogavar Axe at the Assassin
Walkthrough
Ownership of the Crossbow and capacity upgrades for Throwing Knives and the Hidden Gun are highly advisable. Walk with your Den Leader to hear their news, then ascend to the rooftop waypoint and follow from above; to complete the Full Synch objective, you must not touch the ground at any point in this part of the journey.
Use ranged weapons to kill Templars as they attack (and Eagle Sense to identify them in advance, if you wish) until a brief cutscene begins. Chase after the Printer – the obligation to remain on the rooftops ends here – and defend him from the Templar attack, then return to the Den Leader.
Mission: The Champion, Part 2
Availability
Train the Bayezid South Den Leader to Level 14, with a full XP gauge.
Walkthrough
To complete the Full Synch objective for this Memory, bombs crafted with Impact Shells are a necessity. Though Caltrop, Smoke Screen and Gold Bombs are all useful, the Stink Bomb is by far the most efficient choice; ensure that you have three, and sufficient ingredients to craft more if required.
Walk with your Den Leader for an appraisal of the situation, then wait until the conversation with the Herald ends. When the Templar killers draw near, drop a Stink Bomb next to the Herald; dispatch the targets while they are incapacitated. As the clouds clear, use another bomb to prevent the next wave from reaching the Herald.
Once your stocks are depleted, open the Weapon Selector screen and highlight the Stink Bomb; tap the Legs button to create more. This strategy makes a potentially infuriating Full Synch condition a formality. When the Champion arrives, move into the marked position to distract him, then tap the Assassin Signal button to instruct your Den Leader to make the kill.
Mission: The Guardian, Part 1
Availability
Assign a Leader to the Constantine South Den.
Walkthrough
Ensure that you have plenty of Throwing Knives (and, optimally, own the Crossbow) before you begin this Memory. Kill the Templars who attack as you walk with your Den Leader, then approach the waypoint marker. Scan the chests in the market area, then speak with the highlighted merchant.
After the cutscene, follow the Den Leader over the rooftops, killing any sentries or Templars who attack. When the final waypoint is revealed, you must sneak to that position without being detected to complete the Full Synch condition.
Approach via the rooftops, eliminating Gunmen from range with projectiles, then stand on the roof directly above the waypoint. Watch the street below for patrols then, when the coast is clear, drop from the south face of the building and press forward on d to roll straight into the marker as you land.
Mission: The Guardian, Part 2
Availability
Train the Constantine South Den Leader to Level 14, with a full XP gauge.
Walkthrough
Once the opening cinematic ends, follow the Rich Man from a safe distance. After the meeting, tail the Rich Man and the Byzantine soldier he meets until they head north through a guard post, then climb to the roof before the time limit expires; the Full Synch condition is satisfied at this point. Chase down and kill the soldier, then sprint to the waypoint and assassinate the Templar as he runs towards you.
Mission: The Vizier, Part 1
Availability
Assign a Leader to the Imperial North Den.
Walkthrough
Walk with Ezio’s Den Leader, then compete with him in a footrace through the streets; to complete the Full Synch objective, run to the north just after the race is suggested to gain a head start, then beat him to the ladder at the penultimate waypoint marker.
After the cutscene on the rooftop, don’t be too eager in your pursuit – follow the Templar Courier from a safe distance. Join the Den Leader to observe the events that unfold, then chase the Courier when instructed to do so.
Killing him will immediately fill the Templar Awareness Meter completely, but there is a way to avoid this: perform the Leg Sweep move to knock your target from his feet, and the Den Leader will eventually catch up and inflict the mortal blow. With this task complete, speak to the individual at the waypoint marker to conclude the Memory.
Mission: The Vizier, Part 2
Availability
Train the Imperial North Den Leader to Level 14, with a full XP gauge.
Walkthrough
This Memory begins with a frantic race against the clock, in which you have two minutes to locate your Den Leader. To complete the Full Synch condition, you must reach him within one minute without entering open conflict. Activate Eagle Sense and follow the trail; when you reach the Grand Bazaar entrance, hire the Thieves and instruct them to lure the guards away.
Run along the first corridor leading south then take the first right; blend with the civilians to safely pass the Templar patrol, then take the next left, then a right. The location you are running towards is the small open-air courtyard slightly east of a Blacksmith.
Performed at a reasonable speed (and perhaps with a practice run or two in advance), you can reach your Den Leader in approximately fifty seconds. Dive into the fray immediately, then follow your ally and fight further aggressors. When you kill the final two Almogavars, the Memory ends.
Mission: The Thespian, Part 1
Availability
Assign a Leader to the Imperial South Den.
Walkthrough
Though Ezio’s Den Leader suggests that he should follow from the rooftops, it’s easier to accomplish the Full Synch condition from street level. Once the target that you must track is revealed, stay out of sight until she walks to the east.
You must now protect your Den Leader from attacks; fortunately, it is easy to identify prospective aggressors as they lie in wait by activating Eagle Sense; you can even assassinate them before they launch their attacks.
Be careful not to move too close to the target you are tailing, as detection will return you to a previous checkpoint. When your Den Leader leaves street level, the immediate danger is over; once you hit a checkpoint, the completion of the Full Synch condition will be acknowledged. Follow your Den Leader into the Hippodrome until you reach a short cutscene. Walk through the opening leading to the outer area of the structure, then turn left; follow the path until you reach the corpses to end the Memory.
Mission: The Thespian, Part 2
Availability
Train the Imperial South Den Leader to Level 14, with a full XP gauge.
Walkthrough
Follow your Den Leader to reach a lofty vantage point. After the cutscene, you need to move swiftly to reach the target first. Your Den Leader will use a parachute to reach the ground, but you can ride the zipline to your left then leap from the rooftop; though Ezio will be injured in the fall, you can subsequently sprint to the target and assassinate her brazenly in front of the surrounding Templars.
After the brief interlude, fight opponents in the immediate vicinity – an Arrow Storm can end this conflict almost instantly – then run along the dock to the west to escape.
