Spooky Sights
Woe be unto those who would disturb the ghostly slumber of the spectral resident of these dark hallways! Any Mii who adopts the garish yellow outfit of the Ghost is given the power to see all the players at all times with the GamePad touch screen. It is his duty—nay, his purpose—to sneak up on any would-be Ghost Trackers, grab them from behind, and cause them to faint. Ghosts are not invulnerable, however. They can be targeted with the Ghost Trackers’ Flashlights, and the longer the Ghost stays in the beam, the more their life will decrease. Flashes of lightning can also reveal a Ghost’s position, but even this can be turned into an advantage for the Ghost.
Ghost Trackers, summon all your courage as you head into these haunted locales. Equipped with a Flashlight and a spectral proximity sensor, any Mii who opts to hunt Ghosts rather than be one will feel a telltale vibration that intensifies as the Ghost draws near. Work with your friends to hunt down the spectre before they can sneak up on you! Note that the Ghost Trackers’ Flashlights are not without shortcomings; they need Batteries to stay lit, and as the juice inside the Flashlights drains, their beam of light grows shorter and weaker. Keep your eyes peeled for any incorporeal attackers.

General Hunting Tips
As the Ghost: Your role is that of attacker and fright factory. Because the stages’ time limits often favor a slow, measured approach, intimidation and confusion are often much more useful tools than attacking outright. What better way to get a set of Ghost Trackers quaking and wasting their Batteries by shining their Flashlights than to hide on the other side of the wall where their proximity sensors will be going absolutely haywire? The longer you can go without being spotted, the more tension will build in the Ghost Trackers. Use this to your advantage to wear them down—and then strike!
As Ghost Trackers: Survival is the name of the game when on ghost hunting duty. The Ghost can see you at all times, but you must actively seek out the spectral stalker. Any glimpses of the Ghost are a huge help in evening the odds. Whenever there are fewer than four Ghost Trackers participating, robots will be added to the stage to slowly roam and scan the area. With their 360 degree sweeps, these drones often alert you to danger, and can even be used to herd a Ghost toward the Ghost Trackers so you can attack with your Mii character’s own Flashlight. Batteries are absolutely vital to the ghost hunting experience. They have the power to restore much-needed (and life-sustaining!) juice to the Flashlight. A big enough Battery can power it up to a Super Flashlight. Communicate with other players constantly, and warn them of any vibrations you might feel to help narrow down where the Ghost could be.

1. Main Floor
Long, narrow hallways run up the length of this cramped first level—which is either a blessing or a curse depending on your role. Thankfully for Ghost Trackers, the tightness of the hallways means most attacks (except those from around corners) will hit from the front or back, so keep swinging the Flashlight from front to back if your Wii Remote starts buzzing. The same can’t be said for the Main Floor’s rooms, which are a great place to get the drop on Ghost Trackers confused by the multiple entrances and exits. Note, too, that the size of this and all Luigi’s Ghost Mansion levels will grow or shrink based on the number of players present.
2. The Basement
Things become considerably more dangerous for the Ghost Trackers as they head into The Basement. A combination of sharp right angles and multiple entrances or exits out of nearly every room mean it’s quite easy for the Ghost to terrorize them. There’s one thing that offsets the dizzying number of routes to and from most of the parts of The Basement: Lightning flashes from the left, right, and top can help reveal the Ghost as it stalks, and there aren’t nearly as many chances for the Ghost to convincingly double back and dupe the Hunters here as on the Main Floor. Working as a group to cover all potential entrances and exits between flashes is also very important. In fact, not watching each other’s backs in this level is tantamount to asking the Ghost to ambush the whole party, one by one.
3. Research Lab
Ghost Trackers, beware of the many conveyor belts that move tirelessly in the three main rooms of this floor—particularly the large central one. Power-ups like often-needed Batteries usually show up on these motorized tracks, but once a Ghost Tracker steps onto the moving walkways, they’re all but locked into that direction, as movement against the direction they’re traveling is extremely slow. This serves as the perfect lure for the Ghost. Why? Simple: without a need to actually walk, the Ghost can easily move counter to the conveyors without losing speed and surprise any Ghost Trackers trying to make their way toward a Battery. In the Ghost Trackers’ favor, the lightning flashes light up both the top rooms and the long hallways on either side of the large conveyor belt room when they flash through the top windows, and the lower-left room and lengthy hallway when shining in from the left windows. By employing a Ghost Tracker buddy system whenever you jump on the conveyors; one watches and points the Flashlight ahead, the other behind. This way, it’s much easier to grab any power-ups that might show up. Just don’t get ambushed while exiting the room; the Ghost has a nasty habit of waiting just on the other side of an exit.
4. The Storage Room
Only after playing Luigi’s Ghost Mansion 20 times are levels 4 and 5 unlocked. These are much more challenging layouts, so use that experience in playing all three of the previous levels to help out with these last two! The resident Ghost has a pretty sizable advantage here thanks to the Ghost Statues—suits of armor that have a nasty habit of going haywire whenever Ghost Trackers are near. This sets off the proximity sensor, and the confusing signals make it easier for the Ghost to sneak up on them. To counter-balance this, try to stick to the areas that are free of Ghost Statues, such as the right-angled hallway near the center-top and the long hallway at the bottom. Thankfully for Ghost Trackers, lightning does flash in from all four sides, lighting up large swathes of The Storage Room—up to half of it in some cases. However, this can also be a great way to fool Ghost Trackers if you’re the Ghost, since it’s quite easy to double back or stay put after appearing to run down one of the hallways while it’s illuminated. Ghosts need to play a careful mind game here. Let the Ghost Trackers wear down their flashlights trying to locate a sneaking Ghost by the Ghost Statues. Seize on any opportunities to attack in rooms with multiple entrances, especially if a Ghost Statue is going off nearby (the room just to the right of center is a great place for this).
5. Monita’s Rooftop
It would appear the scales have finally tipped in the Ghost Trackers’ favor. This wide-open rooftop is absolutely littered with AI drones that will actively change color when the Ghost is near. The lights atop their heads going from green to yellow to red according to proximity. With the lightning flashes that light up the whole floor, you have a seriously dangerous set of constantly moving threats to the ghastly attacker. Keep your eyes open at all times as the Ghost Trackers to avoid a sneak attack out here in the open.
