The Sims 3 Showtime Guide Essentials Tour of Starlight Shores
Community Spots
Starlight Shores prides itself in its commitment to promoting academic and artistic excellence.
At the heart of this commitment are several publicly funded community facilities where citizens can gather to learn new skills or simply appreciate the finer points of art and literature.
Physical fitness is also a shared community value. All Sims have access to the Weight & Sea Rec Center where they can work out or relax in the pool.
Most of these community services are provided free of charge, ensuring that all Sims have the opportunity to improve their lives.
Community Library
Too cheap to buy books or a computer? No problem! The Community Library has you covered. The library is filled with tons of books, making it the ideal place to read for fun or learn new skills.
In addition to books, the library also has a few computers. Computers are a cheap form of entertainment (through playing computer games) but they can also be used to chat, check real estate values, look for jobs, or writing.
You can even play chess on computers to build your Logic skill. As a public lot, the library is also a popular place for socializing.
Sims with the Bookworm trait love to frequent the library. You can often find them hanging out here or sitting down with their nose pressed into a book.
Gooder Public School
Even the spoiled children of Starlight Shores’ biggest celebrities attend Gooder Public School. Located within walking distance of the Community Library, this school offers a fine educational environment to all students, regardless of who their parents are.
Teens and children spend their formative years attending classes here during weekdays. It’s much like a job, but the pay stinks. Adults can also attend painting classes at the school in an effort to build their Painting skill.
Lidview Cemetery
Unfortunately, the fun-loving Sims of Starlight Shores are not immune to the crushing reality of death. Sims who die are buried here and can be mourned by family and friends. But there’s more to do here than mourn or engrave epitaphs on tombstones.
Lidview Cemetery also has a pond stocked with fish. So when you’re finished sobbing, cast away your sorrows by dropping a line in this fishing hole. The mausoleum in the center of the cemetery also offers tours and is the gateway to the catacombs.
By exploring the catacombs there’s a slight chance you’ll discover a Dusty Old Lamp containing a Genie. The catacombs also hold other rare treasures such as seeds and gems.
However, only Sims with the Brave trait can escape the catacombs without gaining the Horrified negative moodlet, which lingers for several hours. So think twice about treasure hunting in the catacombs, especially if you have a gig scheduled later in the day.
Urbane Center for the Arts
Starlight Shores is a community that embraces the arts and this art museum stands as a living testament to that shared core value.
Filled with a variety of paintings and sculptures, the three-story Urbane Center for the Arts is a popular hangout for Sims with the Artistic trait. The museum even encourages hands-on participation in the arts by offering three easels on the first floor and a guitar on the third floor.
This allows Sims the chance to build their Painting and Guitar skills without having to purchase the necessary equipment. Like parks and some venues, the art museum is a popular party destination. This is a very classy place to throw a party after a show.
Weight & Sea Rec Center
The Weight & Sea Rec Center is the one-stop location for all your Sim’s athletic needs. The image-conscious Sims of Starlight Shores flock to this gym to lift weights, run on treadmills, do chin ups, and swim.
While it’s possible to fill your home with all of the exercise equipment offered here, such purchases aren’t cheap. Everything here is absolutely free. Plus, it’s a great place for Sims with the Athletic trait to gather and socialize.
Up and coming Acrobats should come to the gym regularly to improve their Athletic skill. This helps them perform their various feats with a greater degree of success.
Aside from the gym’s more obvious features, your can find a computer at the front desk and showers in each of the restrooms. It’s a good idea to shower after each workout session!
