Mission 4: The Dying Enemy

Initial Force: 3 x SU-85 Tank Destroyers, 4 x 152mm D1 Field Howitzers, 2 x 37mm 61K Anti-Aircraft Guns

• Support the defending infantry units, and don’t allow the enemy through

Summary

This mission is fairly static. You command a battery of four field howitzers. These guns can easily destroy an enemy tank with a direct hit.

As the Germans begin their first attack, give orders to your howitzers to take out the heaviest enemy tanks.

You also have three tank destroyers. Although they have large main guns, they still have trouble penetrating the front armor of the German medium and heavy tanks.

Keep them back or they will be destroyed. Instead, move them against single tanks when you can get a flank or rear shot. Then, quickly move them out of the way before the enemy can return fire.

You must fight off several waves of attacks. Concentrate on the enemy tanks before firing a few rounds at concentrations of German infantry.

Don’t waste too many shots on the infantry; conserve your ammo for the tanks.
