Monster Island

After that lengthy and dangerous test, the Queen finally feels that our finely-knitted champion has proven its worth. Her Majesty encourages our sack person to set out into the Craftverse to rescue more planets from the selfish Hoard. The journey shifts gears, moving away from the familiar, and into a giant new world. And boy, do we mean giant…

For reasons unknown, The Hoard has moved their operations to the ocean-filled Monster Islands. Home to some of the largest creatures of the Craftverse, one has to wonder whether the little devils can fit such enormous objects into their small karts. Whatever the case, our sack person is ready to slam the brakes on the Hoard’s schemes.

Turtle Island

Our sack person’s island cruise begins on the appropriately named, Turtle Island, a happy place crawling (or swimming) with extremely large-shelled reptiles. Upon arriving on the island, the local know-it-all, Ray the Wonder Turtle, informs our sack person the latest news. After deciphering Ray’s dizzying volume of information, our sack person learns that the turtles here are accustomed to a slow and easy life. It’s no surprise that the Hoard’s quick and merciless shenanigans have disrupted their 
peaceful lives.

Sand, Surf, and Giant Turtles

Despite the Hoard’s antics, one lap around the sandy roads that pave the turtle-populated island really reflects the island’s free and easy environment. The rectangle-shaped course has only a few corners that will give you pause, and the rest (like the waves crashing into the beach) are only gentle curves due to the width of the track. Despite the easygoing atmosphere, there are still plenty of surprises spread out over the island to keep your sack person busy, including 16 prize bubbles and a couple of unique jumps.

1—North Beach Waves

As your kart begins to kick up some sand, drive through the starting line and into the gentle right turn ahead, settling your kart into the northern area of the island. This area of the island is dominated by wavy, but wide-open road. Entering the first open area, look for the first prize bubble in the center of the road, and pick up a Weaponator before moving down the track.

Glide into another gentle right and pick up two rows of score bubbles along the turn. The curve leads to a longer open straightaway where your kart is free to explore the beach or stay on the road. Either way, there are plenty of things to collect on either side.

2—Turn the Tide

The beach road reaches the edge of the island and redirects racers down to the southern coast of the island through two consecutive right turns—a gentle bend, followed by a sweeping turn. Collect points from the score bubble strings and equip one of the Weaponator pickups lined along the turns. Two prize bubbles sit on the sweeping turn. Gather the first one placed on the far left as you enter the turn, and the other at the exit on the inside line on the right.

3—Coasting South

The southern section is a lengthy straightaway that extends all the way to the final bend. However, the path is broken up between a tiny island and the mainland. The water that separates the islands is mixed with some deadly, yet turtle friendly, Green Goo. Bounce and grapple over the water to reach the final bend.

At the start of this straightaway, take the jetpack on the left side, or stay on the right to snag the prize bubble next to a string of score bubbles. A large bounce pad waits at the end of the beach road. Pop the prize bubble in front of the pad before bouncing over to the tiny island.

While airborne, direct your kart to the right to pop the prize bubble in between the islands. The small island is populated with some score bubbles and a single prize bubble on the left side of the island.

After a safe landing, pick up a Weaponator and accelerate into the final bend, a moderate right turn. Take a wide line into the bend to direct your kart into some score bubbles, or move into a tight line to intercept a jetpack and boost your sack person to the start/finish line ahead. No matter which line you take, steer your kart to the left as you exit the turn to nab that last prize bubble.

The Emperor Has No Clues

Impressed with our finely-knit hero’s quicktitude and excellent jumpiness, Ray accompanies your sack person to Monster Island’s imperial castle—home to the wonder turtle’s uncle, the Emperor of Monster Islands. After meeting with the half-awake emperor, Ray uncovers the Hoard’s nefarious plan. They plan to locate the legendary beast, Huge Monster. The Emperor has guarded maps that show where the creature lives, but lost track of them over time. Search the castle for the map pieces to reach Huge Monster before 
the Hoard.

Sandcastles in the Sand

In order to quickly and efficiently search the island, Ray has mapped out several locations around the castle grounds where the pieces could be hidden. Each location is marked with a rainbow-colored checkpoint. This is a race against time, with only 2:15 minutes to clear, in sequence, all 36 checkpoints around the grounds. Drive through each checkpoint as quickly as possible, picking up as many prize bubbles along the way.

Prized Obsessions

The legends about rainbows are true! At least in the Craftverse, where there are plenty of treasures at the end of each rainbow checkpoint. As your sack person bullets through each checkpoint, look out for the whopping 27 prize bubbles scattered about the course. These gleaming prize packs litter the road, so steer into them to build up that Popit collection. Listed below are a few of the trickier prize bubbles in the course, with tips to help your sack person reach them.

1—Snore Bubbles

Near the beginning of this long checkpoint run, your sack person comes face to face with the Emperor, moving through the narcoleptic ruler’s enormous head and body. The Emperor holds two prize bubbles. As you approach the slumbering king, he yawns, allowing you to go through his mouth. There’s a bounce pad at the back of his throat. Collect the prize bubble in front of the pad and run into the bounce pad to launch toward the Emperor’s body, a watermelon shaped island in the center of the area. Before landing, attach your kart to the grapple sponge above the island and swing into the prize bubble floating nearby.

2—Fishin’ for Bubblements

A peculiar pair of prize bubbles populates one of the beach roads near the castle. Just off the coast swims a huge and hungry anglerfish that dangles a grapple sponge off its antenna. Use the ramp on the beach to jump toward the grapple sponge. Use the grapple gun to take the bait and swing into the prize bubble floating ahead of it. As your kart lands, your sack person has to steer violently to the left to pick up the prize bubble on the opposite end of the beach.

3—Tunnel of Fun

It’s time to play Craftverse’s favorite game show: Let’s Make a Decision! Before entering the rocky area of the course, your sack person comes across three archways that briefly split the road into three separate tunnels. On the far left, tunnel #1 has a jet pack to boost your kart back onto the main road. Stay away from tunnel #2, the empty middle tunnel. The grand prize “bubble” sits inside tunnel #3 on the far right. Thanks for playing!

4—Eight Long Problems

With less than five checkpoints left in the track, the road comes to a roundabout with a massive octopus at its center. To continue forward, your sack person must risk life and limb dodging a creature that has eight of the latter. To double the danger, there are two prize bubbles on the opposite ends of the roundabout, forcing your sack person to circle around the creature twice. Drift into the roundabout and speed through, dodging the octo-arms until both prize bubbles are popped.

Huge Monster Rally

With the legendary map completed, Ray and our hero set out to find Huge Monster. Unfortunately, they arrive to find the Hoard has beaten them to the punch, shifting the search into a rescue. Surrounded by throngs of Hoard and chained to the ground, Huge Monster looks about ready to blow a gasket.

The Dirt Bowl

Like most monster truck or supercross rally courses, Monster Island’s Huge Monster rally (whew!) gets down and dirty. The entire dirt track forms a series of interconnected squares that move over many hills and ramps, creating some spectacular jumps. Due to the track’s shape, each turn in the course is a sharp right-angled turn. At the center of it all, is Huge Monster herself, where long chains hold her massive body down.

Hop to It

There are only nine prize bubbles laid about this short track. Some of these bubbles are easy to nab and just sit right on the track. But most of the collectables are floating high above the track, either along a bounce pad’s launch path, or above one of the many hills in the course. As you move up a hill, press at the top to give your kart the height required to reach the prizes.

Get the Point?

Lined up all over the track, and floating around their prize bubble companions, there is hardly a section of the track missing some score bubbles. Use expert control over your kart to string together more than a few multipliers during the race. Rack up the points to post a high score that would make any creator curator proud.

If It Leads, It Bleeds

The course is so incredibly short, that the average driver can complete a full lap in well under one minute. Considering the track’s length, and a steady weaponator supply, the lead is bound to change hands at the drop of a dime. Because of that, weapon strategies shift based on the player’s position. Racers leading the pack should hang onto their weapons for defense, while those stragglers left behind are free to fire off any and everything to catch up.

Rapid Advancement

To stay ahead of the chaos, utilize every boost possible. There are plenty of corners to perform a drift boost, jetpacks to pickup, and bounce pads from which to land a trick boost. Don’t miss a boost to speed through a couple of sharp corners and leave everyone else behind.

Night Rider

With our sack hero’s help, Huge Monster has escaped from the clutches of the Hoard. Free of her bonds, the legendary beast flees to her island home. But the pilfering punks are hot on her trail, setting sail under the cover of darkness. It’s still unclear why the Hoard continues their relentless pursuit, but hopefully a trip around the colossal creature’s dwelling yields answers.

A Little Midnight Track

Long hidden away from the rest of the Monster Islands, Huge Monster’s habitat is a large place made almost entirely of sand. Its long, sweeping roads cut through the island, letting any kart cover the area at a blistering pace. Twilight is upon the racers, but the night is still young. Plenty of time to explore the legendary creature’s humble abode, a course filled with an array of turns, jumps, grapple points, and 18 prize bubbles.

1—Shoulda Zigged 
When You Zagged

The course begins with a series of long switchbacks that zigzag through the south part of the island. Plow through the initial straightaway, sloping through a few hills. Leap at the top of the second hill to reach the first prize bubble floating above it. Every other extended straightaway has a small gap with some questionable green goo flowing through it. Use the grapple gun to swing across glowing green liquid and pick up a weaponator along the way.

Maintain that pace and drift into the switchbacks that separate each straightaway. Keep those eyes peeled for a pair of prize bubbles inside each curve, placed on both sides of the track.

2—Leapin’ Lizards

Upon exiting the final switchback, the track moves upward bounding between bridges into an eye-to-eye encounter with Huge Monster herself. To kick this jump fest off, take the conveyor belt launcher, elevating your sack person to a bamboo/popsicle bridge. As the bridge curves to the right, follow the score bubble string to the prize bubble at its end. The end of the bridge leads your kart into a half pipe, which sends you face to face with Huge Monster.

3—Loop to Regroup

After meeting up with Huge Monster, there is one more loop to pass through before returning to the starting/finish line. Moving through the loop, hug the left side of the track to nab the prize bubble floating on the inside of the curve.

4—Diversion 2.0

During the final lap, a roadblock appears over the conveyor belt launcher, forcing drivers to take a long detour off the main track. Moving into uncharted territory, the detour bounces racers up to a windy road. The launcher at the end of this road flings karts into the huge monster’s mouth, down her throat, and over its body. After that up-close and personal encounter, the beach road finally returns drivers back to the final loop near the end of the track.

Egg Kartin’

The mystery surrounding the Hoard’s obsession with Huge Monster is revealed! The Hoard has pursued the Legendary Beast throughout the Monster Islands hoping to obtain one of her giant eggs. Simply touching the eggs unlocks mysterious powers and the Hoard wants to use these powers for who knows what. The Hoard has taken the egg from the nest and have stashed it in a nearby village. Reclaim the egg and keep her offspring away from egregious eggnappers before they can make a Huge Monster omelet. Hold them off long enough for the egg to hatch, and dispel all of its monster powers.

Hatching a Plan

Unfortunately, this quaint, little village is going to become the center of the most brutal game of keep away ever witnessed. Drive head to head against the Hoard and keep the egg away from their clutches. Head for the egg in the center of the battle arena and hold to grab it. The longer the egg is held, the more points earned. Endure the battle for three minutes, and the driver with the top score is declared the winner of the match.

Poaching the Place

The village, turned battle arena, is a simple curved square that can be separated into two sections. The center of the arena is a mostly open area, with only huts and a few pillars built inside it. To reach the two elevated sections along the side of the arena, travel up the ramps near each corner of the arena.

Hard Boiled

The egg’s huge monster powers alters the size of the driver holding it, transforming them into a giant, kart and all. But in this form, the driver is a sitting duck, its large frame easily to spot and aim at. Making things worse, drivers can’t use any weapons while holding the egg, negating the ability to defend their kart. If the Hoard gets a hold of the egg, find the nearest weaponator, and then quickly attack the enlarged vehicle to halt its point production. To locate the eggnapper, look out for the blue speech bubble with a white star and steer your kart towards it.

When your sack person manages to hold the egg, remain mobile to avoid a quick weaponator death. Try to stay away from open areas, like the center of the arena, where opponents can attack from multiple angles. Instead, circle through each ramp around the arena and travel between each elevated section. The ramps may save your kart from random locked-on weapons.

Prized Omelet

At first glance, there doesn’t appear to be any prize bubbles in the arena. That’s because all 10 prize bubbles are hidden inside every hut in the center area. To get to these treasures, your sack person has to crack open each hut. To destroy the huts, fire any Weaponator at them, or crush them while in giant monster mode.

Egg Hunt

Scrambled Perceptions

Let’s pretend your sack person was an eggnapper bent on collecting as many eggs as possible. All to breed an invincible army of Huge Monsters and take over the world! Okay, maybe that thought went a little too far, but here’s a challenge that puts that imagination to life—the stealing eggs part…

The challenge takes place on an oval, egg shaped arena, with Huge Monster at one end, and a large red target at the other end. Drive around the arena to find one of Huge Monster’s eggs. Press and hold to grab the egg, and drive over the red target to drop it off. 
Your sack person has 60 seconds to collect as many eggs from the angry monster mother. Each dropped off egg also gives your sack person a little more time. Put away 21 or more eggs to get all the prizes.

Star Fishin’

Lost in the Stars

Why these fish are named after large balls of flaming gas that float around the universe is forever a mystery. But an even greater puzzle asks why Starfish in the Craftverse always get lost, despite having a good set of eyes?

Enter this challenge, where you and three other sack friends can help these wayward fish find their way home. There are several starfish scattered all around the level, with each one sporting a red, blue, or green complexion. Grab any starfish and return them to their respective homes to earn points. Return as many starfish as possible within 2:30 minutes, and the driver with the top score at the end wins the match.
