Community Spots
Sunset Valley provides a number of services at community locations that allow Sims to pursue activities that they perhaps cannot afford at home. Most benefits from these community spots such as the gym and library can be had at home, but visiting these spots gives your Sims access to the same goods and gear without the outlay of cash.
There is another benefit to visiting these community spots, too: meeting Sims. These locations can get pretty busy, giving you ample opportunities to socialize and meet new people. If your Sim thirsts for contact and conversation, then definitely use these spots to play the meet-and-greet game. Perhaps the love of your Sim’s life is at this very moment admiring a statue in the museum or crushing it on a weight machine at the gym?
28 Hour Wellness Gym

The 28 Hour Wellness Gym is an excellent place to get in shape. This facility contains several pieces of gym equipment, such as weight machines and treadmills that you can use without paying a single Simoleon. For example, Sims can work on their Athletic skill without dropping §1,500 on a weight machine. There is no limit to how long you can use the machines or how often, and the same goes for the pool downstairs.
The gym is almost always busy. And when you visit the gym, you know what the Sims there are interested in: fitness. When you strike up a conversation, you can usually talk about working up a sweat and find immediate common ground.
Use the pool to continue your workout and have a little fun!
Le Petit Shark Pool Center

Not every Sim can afford a pool in the backyard, so they can use any of the three public pools in Sunset Valley. One of those three pools is at the 28 Hour Wellness Gym. The other two are Le Petit and Lofty Cerulean.
Family-oriented Sims should take their brood to the Le Petit Shark Pool Center where they can swim and play under the sun to their hearts’ content. This huge pool is usually packed with people, making it a good social spot. Single Sims, though, should be warned: most of the other adults at this pool are in relationships with spouses.
Lofty Cerulean Blue Pool

This pool is more suited for social Sims who are just as interested in being seen as getting wet. The Lofty Cerulean Pool attracts a slightly older crowd, making it a great place to seek out new friends—and partners.
Papyrus Memorial Library

Reading is a right, not a privilege. However, owning books falls into the latter. If your home library is a little slim, check out the library to read books for free and at your leisure for as long as you like. There are many, many shelves to browse, as well as objects to look at, such as a globe.
Like the gym, the library is usually packed with people. Folks wandering the library are likely into reading, so focus your first socials on reading to establish an easy connection. From there, spin out into other topics. Love has been known to blossom between bookshelves, so perhaps a soul mate will be found among the shelves?
Reading books in the library is a good way to relieve some stress.
Sunset Institute of Modern Art

The Sunset Institute of Modern Art is the city’s cultural center, where Sims go to get in touch with their inner Picasso. At this community spot, Sims can view priceless works of art for absolutely free and get the benefits of basking in their presence. Frazzled Sims find it’s a good place for leisure, too. There is not as much to actually do here as the gym or library, but this is another good place to find Sims with similar pursuits.
The Sunset Institute of Modern Art is a great place to meet people.
Community School for the Gifted

The Community School for the Gifted is where children go during the day to fill their brains with the knowledge needed to be productive adults. Getting good grades here can lead to a fulfilling adult life. Adults, however, don’t have much to do here other than attend a painting class and start their personal art careers.

Sims who have gone before are buried at the cemetery. The chief purpose of this community spot is to mourn the dead, but there are plenty of other interactions available among the tombstones and grave markers.
There are statues to admire, such as the grim reaper stationed near the entrance. The cemetery is almost overrun by trees, so an outdoorsy Sim will get great pleasure (read: mood boost) from being around those. The grounds need fairly regular up-keep, so consider taking a part-time job at the cemetery working the lot and keeping things tidy.
The central feature of the cemetery, though, is the mausoleum. This imposing structure houses more of the dead. Touring the mausoleum can be educational for some Sims. The option to explore the catacombs below the graveyard is a source of excitement for Sims made of sterner stuff, too.
