Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 is a worthy sequel to the addictive rogue-lite set in the Hammerwatch universe. This new entry builds on the mechanics of the original and has already passed the original’s concurrent player count by a wide margin thanks to a demo, low requirements, and multiplayer support at launch. It also has support for Steam Cloud, but it doesn’t work as you’d normally expect. Here is how you can transfer your files to the Steam Cloud and access those on different devices while playing Heroes of Hammerwatch 2.

Transfer Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 Saves To Steam Cloud

Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 does have Steam Cloud support, but for some reason, it only keeps a copy of saves that work on the local system. To address this, the developers have added a “Save Profiles” section which lets players upload their local saves directly to the Steam Cloud. Here is how it works:

  • From the Pause/Main menu, select Save Profiles.
  • Here, you’ll see your current save profile, “profile 0” in my case.
  • Click on the copy button (the one in the middle) and select “Steam Cloud
  • This will create an additional copy of the profile with “cloud” in parentheses
  • After that, switch to this file by clicking the home button

Now, once you’ve switched to this new save file, it will serve as your main save file that can be uploaded and accessed by Steam Cloud on different devices. While this isn’t an ideal way to manage save files, it’s better than losing your entire progress, which multiple users have reported on the Steam forums of Heroes of Hammerwatch 2.

Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 Save File Location

If you want to back up your local saves, these can be found inside the “saves” folder where Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 is installed on your PC.

This addition is part of Patch 3, which introduces some new features for further customization, balances classes, and bosses, and finally reduces the darn trap damage. Outside of these technical issues and limitations, Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 is a fantastic romp through varied stages full of oversized bugs, rat-men, and plenty of secrets to find.
