Sonic Origins has arrived and brought 2D Sonic games from the main series back to life, giving them the proper modern remaster treatment. However, many players are not particularly thrilled with the PC version, so some prefer the free Sonic Forever port which was made with the idea of ​​being easily moddable. How to Use Sonic 1 Forever Mods?
First off, there are two versions of Sonic Forever:
- Normal version that is installed with the setup file
- Mod-only version that you can copy and paste
Either way, you will need .apk file from the Sonic 1 2013 release or the Data.rsdk file from the base decomp version. You will have to procure the links yourself – for legal reasons.

How to Mod Sonic 1 Forever?
Once you have the mod-only version installed, follow the next steps to add mods to it:
- Download the mod you want to install
- Create a folder in the game directory called “mods”
- Copy and paste the mods into the “mods” folder
- Start the game and navigate to the mod menu
- Find the mod you added in the list and set it to Active
