Path of Exile 2’s endgame is all about farming currency to supply your build with better and better items as you progress through the pinnacle bosses and dangerous map nodes. Everyone is looking for the “best” currency farm so they can spend their time more efficiently. However, there isn’t only one good farming strategy; we’ll discuss all the great ones in this currency farming guide in Path of Exile 2.
Best Endgame Farming Strategy in Path of Exile 2
Before we tackle the intricacies of the Atlas passive skills, you must know the importance of encounters in Path of Exile 2’s endgame. When you hover over certain map nodes, you’ll see some icons on top of them. Each icon corresponds to a certain encounter. They can be one or a combination of the following:
- Map Boss
- Expedition
- Breach
- Delirium
- Ritual
- Irradiated
- Coalesced Corruption
Each node drastically changes the amount of loot you get inside a map by adding encounters that increase the monsters in the map.
For example, adding a Breach encounter to a map will give the player a hundred or more monsters to eliminate when interacting with the Breach hand. Since these added monsters also innately add rare monsters to the map, certain Atlas skill nodes like Deadly Evolution, Lucky PIllage, or Expanding Hordes double or triple their effectiveness because of the added monsters. Combine this with other map mechanics and Atlas skill nodes, especially the Atlas Breach skill nodes, and you’ll see way more loot than you have ever seen.

Waystone Sustain and Map Bosses
One of the easiest ways to get currency is by curating your Atlas to drop way more Waystones. This solves the problem of running out of Tier 15 Waystones and stockpiling hundreds of them in your stash. In this farming strategy, you are utilizing Waystones as your main source of currency.
As of writing (including the last 2 weeks), a Tier 15 Waystone costs 3 Exalted Orbs each when sold in bulk in the Forbidden Trove. Tier 13 Waystones cost around 1 Exalted Orb each, while Tier 14 Waystones cost 2. Using the Atlas above and farming Tier 15 Waystones consistently, you’ll average around 2-3 Tier 15 Waystones and 4+ Tier 1-14 Waystones per map.
To make this consistently happen, you need to do/unlock the following:
- Always use Precursor Tablets with Irradiated. Try to add modifiers like quantity and pack size as well.
- Add as many encounters as possible to the map nodes (utilize all Lost Towers).
- Don’t aim for just completion; clean the whole map.
The farm will be more consistent once you get more Map Boss Atlas skill nodes. Path to the Spoils of War skill node. It is way better than Fit for a King because quantity outweighs rarity stats by a mile. Running maps with a Map Boss encounter guarantees you at least 1-3 Tier 15 Waystones.
The only downside about this strategy is that you must use The Forbidden Trove Discord to sell your Waystones in bulk. Selling them one by one through your premium stash tabs takes so much time and effort since you might have hundreds of them on sale.

Breachstone Farming | Capitalizing on Breach Encounters
Breach is the king of currency farming in Path of Exile 2’s early access. The mechanic adds too many monsters compared to other mechanics like Ritual and Expedition. Even without the Breach Atlas skill nodes, you still get more bonuses in terms of loot. Once you start getting Breach Atlas skill nodes, focus on getting these skill nodes first:
- Frantic Invasion – 75% increased quantity of Breach Splinters dropped by eliminating Breach Monsters; Players take 20% increased damage from Breach monsters.
- Rising Pyre – Breaches in your maps have a 40% increased monster density.
- Crumbling Walls – Your maps have a 15%, 5%, or 2% chance of having one, three, or ten additional Breaches, respectively.
- Xesht’s Madness – Catalysts dropped from rare Breach Monsters in your maps have a 10% chance to be a full stack; Rare Breach Monsters in your maps have the Soul Eater modifier.
- Grasping Hands – Clasped Hands in your maps have a 25% chance of being guarded by a pack of Magic monsters; Breaches in your maps have 50% more Clasped Hands.
- Waking Nightmare – Clasped Hands in your Maps drop double Breach Splinters; Clasped Hands in your maps inflict Waking Nightmare on you when opened.
Since you can only get four notable nodes, the best combination is Crumbling Walls, Xesht’s Madness, Grasping Hands, and Waking Nightmare. These give the most value as you get rare monsters, Catalysts, and Breach Splinters for some extra value.
However, if you want to capitalize on purely Breach Splinters, you can also use the combination of Frantic Invasion, Crumbling Walls, Grasping Hands, and Waking Nightmare. This small swap will give you way more Breach Splinters at the cost of Catalysts and a bit of quantity lost from that Soul Eater modifier mod on rare monsters.
It can be worth it, as getting a whole Breachstone (300 Breach Splinters) costs around 1 Divine Orb. Weirdly enough, that isn’t even your main source of income in this Breach farming strategy. It would be best if you still got way more currency drops from defeating monsters on the map.
