How to Buy, Sell, and Trade With Other Players in Path of Exile 2

Welcome to a whole new world!

With Path of Exile 2 being one of the hardest games to learn and play, it makes sense to at least get help from other players by buying or selling gear and trading currency. It does make sense because you can pick up loot made for other classes, making it useless for your character but a treasure for others. That trade could help you build your character faster, and here’s all you need to know about buying, selling, and trading in Path of Exile 2.

How to Buy Items from Other Players in Path of Exile 2

If you are looking to buy items outside of NPC vendors, you need to use Path of Exile 2’s official trading website. Once you open the trade website, you can see two main categories “Search Listed Item” and “Bulk Item Exchange.” We’ll ignore the Bulk Item Exchange since most of these items can be bought easily using the Currency Exchange in the game.

On the Search Listed Item tab, you can search for any item using the search bar. For rare and other items, you’ll want to play around with the filters to find the specific item you want.

For example, if you are looking for Maximum Life, Spirit, and Resistance rolls on your body armor, you can add these stats on the filter on the right-hand side. You want to take note of the numerical and percentage stat filters to find your ideal gear (+Maximum Life vs. +% Maximum Life).

Once you have the filter set, the item listing will default to show the cheapest ones first. Search for the item you want and press the “Direct Whisper” below the player’s name. This will automatically send a message to the player in the game, which means you should also have the game open when doing this.

For console players, you have no choice but to open the trade site to buy items from other players.

How to Sell Items in Path of Exile 2’s Trading Website

Now, if you want to sell items on the trade site, you need to purchase Premium Stash Tabs in the microtransaction shop first. Once you have a Premium Stash Tab, you should right-click or inspect the properties of the Premium Stash Tab. It should open up a window allowing you to change its name, color code, affinities, and privacy (public or private).

You want to set it to public and new options will show up. You can edit the Premium Stash Tab to the “Each Item Individually Priced” setting to manually input a price on each item inside the tab.

When pricing an item inside the tab, you can either set a negotiable price which will display “Asking Price” or an exact price which will show “Exact Price” on the trading website. Selecting negotiable will encourage players to haggle for it so they can save some currency.

If you select “Set Exact Price On All Items” as the setting for your whole Premium Stash Tab, you can input a specific price such as “1 Exalted Orb,” and every item placed inside that stash tab will be priced at 1 Exalted Orb in the Path of Exile 2 trading website. This saves you some time setting each item price individually.

In a way, you can purchase multiple Premium Stash Tabs and have different price points to make it easier for you to manage and sell items.

How to Trade Items With Other Players in Path of Exile 2

When someone is buying your item, it is common courtesy (yup!) to wait for the buyer in your own hideout. Once they arrive, you’ll invite them to a trade when ready.

For the buyer, it is rude to force the seller to go to you without asking. It is also rude to spam trade invites, as it is also a common courtesy to let the seller send the trade invite. This is for better organization as some sellers may have more than one customer going to their hideout. Some sellers may also need some time to fix their inventory for the sale or to try and find the item you are purchasing.

These are the common unspoken rules or etiquette within Path of Exile 2. So, if a buyer or seller has a specific request like they can’t access your hideout, they can ask the seller to go to them instead.
