A well-known Path of Exile player has summoned thousands of skeletons, breaking the game by dropping the FPS so low that it isn’t even playable anymore. Empyrian and his team have come up with an “end-league” project that tries to summon as many minions as possible with the game’s current resources.

There are a lot of things going for the build that almost no one could replicate on this scale. See, Empyrian and his team always look for projects to end the leagues with. The goal is to have something completely absurd, such as having the most serious recorded damage on PoE.ninja or, in this case, the most minions summoned.

To explain it as simple as possible, this minion build wants to have as much spirit reservation as possible, using rings like Grip of Kulemak and Abyssal Signet with the highest increased spirit reservation efficiency of skill rolls. By highest, this also means corrupting a max-rolled item and having it increase the spirit reservation even more. That’s a lot of investment, and they would do this to squeeze out every single thing possible from each slot, regardless of whether the item even exists or not. If it doesn’t, they will craft one themselves.

You can see the video and explanation from Empyrian’s channel, Empyriangaming, below.

The build even uses a max-rolled and corrupted Ingenuity Utility Belt, a Kalandra’s Touch, spirit stacks with rare equipment, and all the items that could either increase life or spirit. The project uses an ascendancy passive called Beidat’s Will, which increases the maximum spirit for every 25 maximum life.

When the title says “Project Minionmaxxing,” it isn’t just any clickbait text – they really go crazy, spending several Mirror of Kalandra’s worth of currency into the build.

After the build was ready, Empyrian and his team started summoning the minions, almost freezing the game entirely. Even the FPS counter would stay at 28 FPS, but you can clearly see that the game barely moves already, also skyrocketing the ping. It could’ve gone a bit smoother, but the project also involves multiple players stacking even more auras, buffs, and, more importantly, minions. Having a full party doing the same thing eventually broke the game or servers, as you can see from the network graph looking like someone going through life support.

They also went even further, trying to go to the Trials of the Sekhemas to try and get an increased maximum life modifier to increase life, which increases the total Spirit and creates even more minions.

If you love this type of content, give Empyriangaming a follow, as he always has end-of-league projects like this for both Path of Exile 1 and Path of Exile 2. All those currencies farmed over the months all go to these types of projects.
