Flow of the Game — LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey eGuide

The game begins with the first level where Laval must get to the top of Spiral Mountain to find out what Cragger is doing with the Chi orbs. After completing this mission, Laval returns to the Lion Temple, which is the main hub for the game.

Story Mode

There are ten different levels in all. The first time you play a level, you are in Story mode. During the first couple levels, you have only Laval available to play. However, as you progress, more characters join Laval’s group. Story mode provides a narrative—or story—that unfolds as you play through each level to the climactic finale. The characters with whom you begin the level always have the correct abilities for you to complete the level. However, you may not have all the characters and abilities you need to fully explore the level.

Free Play Mode

Once you complete a level in Story mode, you unlock Free Play mode for that level. As you come back with more characters and their abilities, you will be able to get past obstacles to collect items you could not get to during Story mode.

The Hubs

The LEGO Chima Vault System

The vault system allows you to link the progress you make in the game to your LEGO ID profile on the website http://chima.lego.com/the-vault. At the end of each game level, you receive a code. Enter these codes on the website to unlock online content. For those playing on the Nintendo 3DS, enter all 10 codes on the website and you will receive a unique prize code. Enter this code on your system to unlock an in-game reward. Select Vault under the Unlocks section of the menu to redeem your prize.

The Lion Temple is the central location in the Land of Chima and serves as the main hub. From the Lion Temple hub, you can visit the other hubs and related levels. Just follow the pathway from the Lion Temple to those other locations to play through the levels again. For example, if you want to get to the Eagle Town and Eagle Library levels, you must first travel through the Eagle Grasslands hub. These hubs are not only ways to get to the levels. They also contain lots of collectibles and should be thoroughly explored in Free Play mode.
