Is Path of Exile 2 Cross-Platform?

Time to give console players some auto-sort feature to let them catch up.

Path of Exile 2 went through its successful early access launch, and you may wonder if the game supports cross-platform features, so you can decide on which platform you’d like to grab it so you can play with your friends. Path of Exile 2 is available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms, so nobody is getting left out of the fun (Sorry, Switch users). Here’s everything you need to know about cross-platform features, multiplayer rules, and the benefits of playing with other players.

Can You Play Path of Exile 2 With Friends on Different Platforms?

Path of Exile 2 will allow players from different platforms to play together, which means that yes, it has cross-platform support. Console players can party up with PC players as long as the game meets the multiplayer rules set by the game, which only supports multiplayer for up to six people per party. As long as players from different platforms add each other to their social tabs in the game, they can invite each other to a party.

Players can also create their own guilds and invite other players from different platforms to join without any platform restrictions.

When playing with friends on different platforms, there isn’t an indicator that a player is using an Xbox, PlayStation, or PC. However, players using controllers vs. a keyboard and mouse is very noticeable. Most actions and movements look similar, but managing items and sorting through different tabs will be more difficult using a controller than a keyboard and mouse.

So, if you are running maps with your console friends, give them ample time to manage their inventory, as the game doesn’t have an auto-sort feature, and they’ll be manually selecting and depositing items.

What Are the Benefits of Playing Path of Exile 2 in a Group?

Firstly, it’s important to know whether loot is shared or individual. The quick answer is that the loot is shared, but in a way, it does give you more loot because of the party play benefits.

When you play as a party, the “quantity of items found” and “rarity of items found” stats increase as the party grows. The exact numbers aren’t out yet, but assuming it follows the same mechanics as Path of Exile 1, players will receive a 50% bonus to currency items found per additional player in the party.

The natural quantity and rarity of items found in their base form (the base or natural stat outside of gear modifiers, atlas passives, tablets, and way stone buffs) are also increased.

That means each additional player will add to the loot that drops in the party to compensate for group play. However, you also get a buff in experience points gained when playing with more players, making it way better to play with others.

Just make sure to share the loot among the group!
