Fortnite regularly cycles in fresh quests you can tackle to claim XP and sometimes help contribute to unlocking special prizes. One such mission you may encounter while progressing through the battle bus storyline asks you to damage opponents from below.

In general, you likely don’t think much about your positioning while in the heat of a battle, so this task may seem a bit tough to figure out. It’s not too difficult to get done once you understand what it’s calling for, so here’s how to damage opponents from below in Fortnite.

To complete the damage opponents from below quest in Fortnite, you need to deal a total of 100 damage against an enemy while you’re at a lower height than them. Most battlefields are flat, so this can be a bit tricky to get done.

First, you need to track down an enemy to fight. This quest is a bit more forgiving than most, as it calls for a general opponent rather than only enemy players. Because of this, you can complete it by fighting hostile NPCs around the map, like bosses, or enemy players you run into. They both count equally for this task, so the choice is entirely yours.

Next, you need to establish a good angle. I found the easiest way to complete this objective is to find a small hill and have your enemy stand on it while you’re slightly lower on the ground below it. There are many different ways to get the right angle, though, such as:

  • Looking for opponents in Hot Air Balloons.
  • Looking for opponents landing from the battle bus.
  • Looking for opponents using Wingsuits.
  • Looking for opponents up in tall buildings.
  • Looking for opponents using the rails at Wonkeeland.
  • Looking for opponents standing on hills or mountains.
  • Looking for opponents on staircases.

Once you’ve got a good angle, start firing your enemy with all you’ve got. I recommend some kind of gun here, as it’s much easier to get the right angle if you can do so from afar. The Arc-Lightning Gun worked quite well for me, but any weapon you like works, as you simply need to deal 100 damage however you see fit to do so to get this quest done.

Completing this quest gets you 10,000 XP to help you claim some sweet battle pass prizes. It also gets you one step closer to unlocking some battle bus quest rewards, as there are some special goodies you can only unlock by tackling this specific set of quests.

There’s plenty more to tackle around the island this season. If you’re not sure what to do next, you might consider destroying dumpsters to find and collect custom battle bus pieces, entering a Forsaken Vow Rift Gate, and using Unstable Element.
