The vast Fortnite island has many hidden secrets waiting to be uncovered. In Chapter Seven, season one, one of these secrets is the Unstable Element item, a special device you can use to acquire some pretty solid loot.
If you come across this item while exploring, you’ll likely have no idea how to use it, as it appears useless until you know how it works. It’s also a decently tricky item to find, but capable of helping you get some great items. Here’s how to get and use an Unstable Element in Fortnite.
What is Unstable Element in Fortnite?
An Unstable Element is a special item that can sometimes be found on the ground and essentially acts as a key. It doesn’t have any abilities you can activate like a regular weapon, nor does it have any hints as to how you actually use it. All this item has is a description that reads, “Woah, what’s this thing?,” making it a decently tricky object to figure out.
What Does Unstable Element Do in Fortnite?
The Unstable Element item is a key you can use to unlock a secret vault that contains a blue chest. Inside this chest, you’ll find high-quality weapons, gold bars, and more useful items sure to aid you in any fights you encounter.
Where to Find Unstable Element in Fortnite
You can exclusively find an Unstable Element at Innoloop Labs, which is a main POI situated right in the middle of the island. This object can only be acquired in the lower tunnel areas tucked away under the labs, so be sure to head down until you find them.
How to get Unstable Element in Fortnite
You can get an Unstable Element by teleporting between the tunnels at Innoloop Labs. This is the only way to acquire this special key, and it’s a process unlike anything else you’ll encounter in Fortnite, so it can be a bit tough to figure out.
To start, you need to find a way down to the tunnel area underneath the labs. The easiest way to access the tunnels is by breaking the glass right underneath the massive Zero Point Shard in the center of Innoloop Labs. From there, look for a nearby doorway that has some stairs you can head down.
Eventually, you’ll come across a tunnel area. At the end of each side of the tunnel, there’s a door with a handprint button you can interact with to teleport to a new tunnel. Press this button and wait for the teleportation to complete. As soon as it does, look around on the ground in the new tunnel to find an Unstable Element you can pick up.
How to Use Unstable Element in Fortnite
To use the Unstable Element, locate a blue vault door, which can be found along the walls of each tunnel, and interact with it while holding this special item. As soon as you do, the door will slide open, revealing a shiny blue chest you can open to claim your reward.
While you’re already hanging around Innoloop Labs, be sure to check around for Chapter Seven, season one bosses, and NPCs, as some of them are located nearby. These characters offer several special items, making them a great way to stock up on even more powerful loot.
