Scavenger hunt quests are pretty common in Fortnite, and they’re some of the toughest missions to work through. One such task you’ll encounter in Chapter Seven, season one, asks you to destroy dumpsters to find and collect custom battle bus pieces.
This is one of the trickier missions you’ll face, as it can be pretty difficult to locate dumpsters around the island. Once you know where to look, though, it’s a great quest to tackle for some quick and easy XP. Here’s how to destroy dumpsters to find and collect custom battle bus pieces in Fortnite.

To complete the destroy dumpsters to find and collect custom battle bus pieces quest, you need to find and break three dumpsters around the island. Each dumpster you destroy will drop a battle bus piece you can pick up, thus making progress in this quest.
Dumpsters can be broken using your pickaxe, a gun, or any other destructive tool you like. Your pickaxe is generally the best option here since dumpsters are fairly easy to break, and you won’t have to waste any precious ammo when using it.
Breaking dumpsters is easy, but actually finding them can be tricky, as the island is quite large and they blend in with the environment rather well. You also need to find a total of three different ones, as you can only get one battle bus piece from each.
Dumpster Locations in Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 1
Dumpsters can be found around most main POIs and Landmarks across the island, but there are some spots where they are much easier to find and more abundant than others. The overall four best locations to visit for dumpsters are as follows.
- Battlewood Boulevard – 14 dumpsters
- Ripped Tides – Five dumpsters
- Sandy Strip – Four dumpsters
- Painted Palms – Five dumpsters
Battlewood Boulevard is, without a doubt, the best location to visit when hunting for dumpsters. There are 14 dumpsters situated around this vast POI, offering plenty of opportunities to get this mission done. All four locations have more dumpsters than you need, though, so pick whichever spot works best for you.
In addition to the main four POIs where dumpsters are most easily found, there are also some other spots you can venture to for them. These locations aren’t quite as good, but they’ll still get the job done.
- Classified Canyon
- Wonkeeland
- Artsy RVs (Landmark east of Classified Canyon)
- Fore Fields
- Fun Factory (Landmark north of Sus Studios)
- Sus Studios
- Bumpy Bay
- Toybox Docks (Landmark north of Tiptop Terrace)
- Gas station to the east of Wonkeeland, close to the base of the snowy mountain
