In Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, there’s a formidable foe called the Cube Assassin. If you’ve heard of this enemy and are wondering where to find them, you’re not alone.
While you’d think the Cube Assassin would appear in Sideways zones, you actually need to look for a different type of entry into the Sideways. To explain further, we’ve put together a guide on where to find the Cube Assassin in Fortnite.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 | Where to Find Cube Assassin, How to Beat Cube Assassin
To find the Cube Assassin in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, you’re first going to want to find and enter a Sideways Anomaly. Unlike other Sideways areas that appear as an orange/red ball over named locations, Sideways Anomalies can appear anywhere.
To find them, you’re going to want to open your map and look for the symbol that marks the location of a Sideways Anomaly. In the map image above, we’ve marked what this symbol looks like on your map. In the image below, we’ve circled what the Sideways Anomaly looks like in the game.
Once you approach and enter one of these Sideways Anomalies, you’ll be faced with waves of enemies. Because of this, we recommend stocking up on weapons and supplies before entering Sideways Anomalies, especially if you’re seeking out the Cube Assassin.
To help make it easier to recover Health and Shields during Sideways Encounters, we highly recommend stocking up on edible items like Meat or Mushrooms as well as they can help restore Health and Shields quickly.
When in the Sideways, you should also use the low gravity to your advantage to jump and dodge enemy attacks. Be wary of poison enemies as they can drop a poison cloud that deals out damage.
Additionally, IO Guards may randomly spawn in and start shooting at you, so you’ll want to take them out to avoid taking damage while distracted by other enemies. Keep working your way through enemy waves until the Cube Assassin appears.
Note that there’s no guarantee a Cube Assassin will spawn, their presence in a Sideways Anomaly is random. If you defeat all enemy waves without seeing the Cube Assassin, you’ll have to make your way over to another Sideways Anomaly and try again.
How do you know you’ve found them? First, they appear more human than the other enemy types, and they hold a Mythic Sideways Minigun.
When you deal damage to them, you’ll notice that the Cube Assassin has both a Health and Shield bar which you’ll need to work your way down through both in order to defeat them.
Seeing that Health and Shield bar combo is a great way to identify the Cube Assassin.
Because the Cube Assassin has both Health and Shields, we recommend focusing all of your attention on the Cube Assassin once they spawn as there’s a limited amount of time while in the Sideways Anomaly to defeat them.
If time runs out, you’re once again out of luck and you’ll have to enter another Sideways Anomaly and try again. Once you defeat the Cube Assassin, you’ll receive their Mythic Sideways Minigun as a reward.
Alternatively, if you are victorious and beat the Sideways Anomaly with all of its enemy encounters (minus the Cube Assassin), a Sideways Minigun will drop along with Cube Monster Parts which can be used as crafting materials to improve its rarity.
So even if you don’t get the Mythic Sideways Minigun (should the Cube Assassin not spawn during the Sideways Encounter), there’s still a way to craft your way to a Legendary Sideways Minigun capable of dishing out a solid amount of damage.
Again, to find the Cube Assassin you’ll need to enter Sideways Anomalies. The Cube Assassin appears randomly so if they don’t appear, enter another Sideways Anomaly and try again.
We hope this guide has helped, and wish you luck in your battle against the Cube Assassin in Fortnite!
