With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 picking up the pace in terms of the player base that has been rapidly growing since release, players are wondering what actual factors are being taken into consideration in the matchmaking calculation, because, you know, people always doubt the criteria of the matchmaking algorithm in multiplayer games – for good reason. Does Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Have Skill-Based Matchmaking?
Some players might like the Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM) in the Call of Duty franchise, but there is a very vocal chunk of fans that have issues with it, so naturally, the question of all questions is whether or not Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has Skill-Based Matchmaking or not.

Judging by the beta of CoD MW2 available right now, Skill-Based Matchmaking is within the game, enabled, and working.
Dr Disrespect, among other online personas, was very critical of SBMM in CoD MW2 and Timthetatman made the simplest tweet possible:
Many CoD players are probably not interested in setting foot in Ranked matches (we believe this goes for almost all multiplayer games) and we’ve seen hordes of dissatisfied players intentionally throwing matches so that they can lower their SBMM rating and provide themselves with a more fun gaming experience for at least a couple of games until Skill-Based Matchmaking re-calibrates them where they “belong” when they need to tank matches again.

The worst part about this is that the system will not allow you to just go AFK until you lose because you will get kicked from the match. You need to LARP as a Stormtrooper from Star Wars and actually play the game, but miss all enemies, so that the system can lower your hidden rating (or shall we say, ELO).
