If you plan on taking down all the end-game bosses in Diablo 4, you will need a hefty supply of summoning items such as Exquisite Blood. Each summoning item has its own requirements so you can farm them, and I’m here to help you get the blood you need for Zir.

Where to Find Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4

  • Exquisite Blood Drop
  • Exquisite Blood item

Exquisite Blood can be obtained by completing World Boss events or participating in the Gathering Legions events in World Tier 4. Any time you complete either activity, you will get a small stack of blood along with all the other rewards that usually drop. Gathering Legions events spawn constantly, and the World Bosses have timers now.

World Boss events tend to drop more Exquisite Blood at once. However, if your goal is to farm blood entirely, then farming Gathering Legions over and over is your best bet. The drop rate is lower, but there is always at least one summoning item as a reward, and you can find one spawning around the map every 20 minutes or so. Make sure to save all the blood you can ahead of the Zir Pinnacle Dungeon that will arrive in early December. You don’t want to be stuck in the grind all over again.

How to Use Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4

You can use Exquisite Blood by entering the Darkened Way in the Gale Valley of Fractured Peaks and finding the Altar in the Ancient’s Seat. One blood won’t cut it, though. To actually use the altar to summon Lord Zir, you need to have at least nine Exquisite Blood in your inventory that can be used as a sacrifice.

As soon as you offer up the nine Exquisite Blood on the Altar, Lord Zir will appear in the arena. You won’t get your blood back if you leave, so make sure you are up to the challenge. After all, you don’t want to miss a chance for more Uniques.
