Now that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been out for a little while, we can only sit and wonder what else Nintendo has in store for us. If it’s anything like Breath of the Wild, we can expect to see a few DLC packs down the road that include some new trails, tribulations, and costumes for us to adorn our favorite hero in once again. While there is plenty of history for the developers to look back upon, there are a few inclusions that I know at least I would scream if I got to see represented in one of the most critically acclaimed games in recent years. Here are our picks for Armor Sets we would love to see in any DLC packs for TOTK.
The Hero’s Shade Armor Set – Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda can get a bit dark and spooky at times, as can be witnessed in some of the darker entries in the franchise. With entries like Majoras Mask and Twilight Princess handling some of the more “mature” themes that the franchise has put on display, players may not have realized that they share a little bit more in common than originally thought.
The Hero’s Shade is a ghastly creature that teaches the Hero of Twilight the tricks of the trade throughout his journey, but players may not have realized that this ghoulish entity is the spirit of the Hero of Time. Being able to don this legendary suit of armor, be it in its decrepit and disfigured form, or as a brand new set would feel suitably epic as we journey throughout Hyrule once again. While we may have a few armor pieces that give us memories of our time spent with Midna and Zant, being able to finally strap on this armor for the first time would feel incredible.
Darknut Armor Set
One of the more menacing designs in the history of Zelda, the Darknuts have always been a personal favorite. No matter if you look at their more comical interpretation found in The Wind Waker or their more realistic and grounded approach from Twilight Princess, they have always kept one thing across many timelines: they look absolutely sick. While the name may emit a slight titter of laughter from most players, the Darknut has always been one of the most visually imposing foes you can encounter in your adventures.

The option to remove parts of the armor, much like lowering the Hylian hood could grant players the ability to sacrifice defensive capability for more attack power, or vice versa. It could be a great tradeoff for style versus substance, and just another excellent piece of armor to add to our ever-growing catalog of clothing.
Ghirahim Armor Set
Ghirahim was one of the most eclectic antagonists across the entirety of the Zelda franchise, but that’s exactly what makes him hard to forget. The first time I encountered this colorful character in my playthrough of Skyward Sword, I figured any battle against him would be a walk in the park. But I was quickly proven wrong, though I like to blame the finicky Motion Plus controls on it, rather than a lack of skill. Across a variety of other battles, I quickly learned what I could do to best Ghirahim, and made him an unforgettable character in my eyes.
While some fans may not have loved what Skyward Sword had to offer, at least the character design was peak Zelda, and Ghirahim is no exception. While he may be one of the most controversial Zelda villains of yesteryear, we would love to see this sicko make his way back into the mainstream consciousness of fans once again. Hopefully, we can do all of the flips and jumps he was doing in Skyward Sword if we can get our hands on this armor.
Skull Kid Armor Set
Come on, we’ve already got the Majoras Mask in TOTK, we may as well get the rest of the getup so we can dress as our favorite lost soul. Easily one of the most iconic characters to ever emerge from the franchise, the lead antagonist of The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask could easily lend his gear to the new hero of Hyrule.

Being able to don these clothes would be a dream come true for me, as Majoras Mask is one of my favorite games of all time. While Termina may have been eternally more creepy than Hyrule could ever be, at least The Depths offer that slight bit of terror and horror that I’ve been waiting years to see once again. Now imagine taking on the Gloom-Infested enemies of this dark world while dressed up as the Skull Kid, and tell me you could ever want anything else.
Groose Armor Set
Okay, maybe I’m a little biased toward this outfit. I’ll keep it real with you, Groose was one of my favorites when I played through Skyward Sword, even if he is a bit of a comic relief character. But tell me you wouldn’t love to run around the open worlds of Hyrule, diving from the Great Sky Islands while that bright red pompadour flaps wildly in the wind.

Would this outfit be something that works like the Phantom Armor or the Tingle Set, where you can’t upgrade it but it offers you some sort of a great bonus in exchange, or would this be the most powerful set in the game? It’s hard to know for certain, but I would lean toward the last. Maybe we could unlock the Groosenator as an Autobuild weapon while wearing this particular outfit? The possibilities are endless, so it’s time to let the Groose loose one more time, Nintendo.
While there are plenty of different armor sets that fans would love to see, these would be some of the best of the bunch that Nintendo could pull out of the vault. There’s a good reason that fans love the Zelda franchise as much as they do, and the characters within these worlds are some of the best in the business. Make sure that you’re ready to explore the newest entry in the series by checking out our Tears of the Kingdom section below before you plan on visiting Kakariko Forest once again.
