The Sims 3 Supernatural eGuide Essentials Tour of Moonlight Falls

Meteorites

Meteorites

Not every rock you scoop up in Moonlight Falls is of this planet. Some are meteorites that crashed down from space. These rocks can be worth serious Simoleons if you’re not afraid of a little risk. There are three sizes—small, large, and huge.

Meteorites can be worth quite a bit of money, but there is a degree of risk when you analyze a meteorite to determine what it is. Sometimes the raw value of a meteorite is greater than its worth once it has been identified. For example, if analysis reveals your meteorite is Ordinary Chondrite, the meteorite is now only worth half of its previous value. After analyzing it, there is no way to reverse the process, so you might be stuck with a less valuable space rock.

Magical Gnomes

Supernatural introduces an all-new magic gnome: Haunted Gnome. By now, you should be fairly familiar with these mischievous little fellows. The Haunted Gnome is based on the occult angle in this expansion. There is no sure-fire way to encounter a Haunted Gnome, but there are ways to increase your chances. You can sometimes (okay, rarely) fish a Haunted Gnomes from the The Claaaaw arcade machine. There is also a chance the Haunted Gnome will appear if you fail a Cast Spell>Haunted Ritual.

Should you encounter a Haunted Gnome, get ready for some fun. Once placed on your lot, the Haunted Gnome loves to move around in the middle of the night... typically between the hours of 3 AM and 6 AM. When you wake in the morning, check your Haunted Gnome. He make have moved into a different part of the house. He often makes a silly-scary face.

However, there is a touch of the sinister to the Haunted Gnome. You see, as the name implies, this little gnome is, well, haunted. An NPC ghost sometimes (but not always) haunts the gnome and will show up on your lot for a few hours before disappearing. There is a chance the ghost will possess the gnome and make it float around—but the gnome does stay within its footprint on the lot. Also, if a Sim with the Coward trait gets too close to a Haunted Gnome or the ghost that haunts it, they will become afraid and take a mood hit.

Finally, there is a positive to having a magic gnome on your lot and inside your household. You immediately generate an environmental bump, which can result in mood increases for nearby Sims.
