It’s not often that older generation Pokemon still get the spotlight in Pokemon GO, but some mysteries of evolutionary forms have persisted over the years and still have the community stumped. Sure, there are just as many tricks when it comes to evolving Pokemon into the forms that you want, but if you’re wondering whether or not people have cracked the RNG-fest that is Wurmple evolution in Pokemon GO, we’ve got bad news. Either way, we’ll help you with the mechanics of the procedure.
Wurmple Evolution in Pokemon GO
The key to evolving a Wurmple in Pokemon GO is really having the right amount of candy. It really shouldn’t be rocket science for anyone who’s a veteran Pokemon GO player at this point, but we’ll run through the basics anyway because memory is a fickle Mistress and thinking is hard! If you want to evolve a Wurmple, you just need 25 Candy. To get it from Silcoon and Cascoon into a Dustox or Beautifly then you’re going to need 100 of the right Candy.
The reason why people get their knickers in a twist when it comes to the intricacies of Wurmple evolution in Pokemon GO is because of the fact that years after the Pokemon’s introduction into Pokemon GO, there’s no actual way to determine whether or not you’re going to get a Silcoon or Cascoon when you evolve it. Unlike the various Eeveelutions that can be reliably be triggered by naming your Pokemon the right thing, there doesn’t seem to be a surefire method for obtaining a Cascoon over a Silcoon or vice versa. Unfortunately, this means that if you’re batting for a particular final evolution of Wurmple and you’ve only been getting, well, second forms of the chain that you don’t want then there’s nothing you can really do to change your luck. Sorry! Just keep evolving.
Now that you’ve got our guide to how Wurmple evolution in Pokemon GO works, you too should be able to obtain either a Silcoon or a Cascoon (both of whom turn into beautiful butterfly moths over time!). We wish that it were a little easier to actually pick which one you acquired, especially if you were wanting a particular final evolution over another, but hey. RNG has long been the lifeblood of Pokemon GO so we don’t see that changing any time soon.
