If you’ve just started cracking properly into Pokemon GO, then you might be wanting to get caught up on the collecting game. With the Lunar New Year event currently kicking off to a little bit of a rough start, we get it if you’re not wanting to engage right away in this year’s rodent festivities. Here’s our refresher course on the Eevee evolutions in Pokemon GO and how to get them.
Eevee Evolutions in Pokemon GO – Tips and Tricks
There are a couple of ways spread across the different Eeveelutions when it comes to getting the ones that you might want, though one common trick which you might already have known about is that you can name your Eevees specific things to get evolutions that you want. While Eevees will evolve into one of the Eeveelutions randomly after being fed enough candy (25 to be exact), you can actually determine which Eevee evolution you get through careful naming conventions. We’ve listed off the nickname tricks below for you to take advantage of, though remember that this is a single-use thing per Eeveelution so make sure that you’re only using this trick on your strongest Eevees.
- Use Sakura as the nickname if you want an Espeon
- Use Pyro as the nickname if you want a Flareon
- Use Rea as the nickname if you want a Glaceon
- Use Sparky as the nickname if you want a Jolteon
- Use Linnea as the nickname if you want a Leafeon
- Use Tamao as the nickname if you want an Umbreon
- Use Rainer as the nickname if you want a Vaporeon
However, the advent of the new lure types (which we covered earlier this month) like the Mossy and the Glacial lures, it’s possible to evolve some Eevees into Glaceon and Leafeon without having to use the nickname trick. If you’re within range of a Pokestop with a Glacial lure enabled, you can evolve your Eevee into a Glaceon. The same thing goes for a Mossy Lure and a Leafeon.=
