Path of Exile 2 Delirium Mechanic, Explained

Waiting for those cluster jewels...

Path of Exile 2 features various gameplay mechanics in the endgame. Players can choose which mechanics they want to run, and all of them offer different rewards. For most players, the Delirium league mechanic is the most confusing one. Players who interact with Delirium usually go with the flow, but it will greatly help if you learn about its mechanics. Here’s everything you need to know about the Delirium mechanic in Path of Exile 2.

What is Delirium and the Delirium Mirror in Path of Exile 2?

When you hover over the maps or nodes in the endgame Atlas, you’ll see icons corresponding to different game mechanics. The Delirium icon means that there will be a Delirium Mirror on the map.

When you play this node, the Delirium Mirror will be waiting near the map’s starting point. Passing through the Delirium Mirror will activate the Delirium mechanic. Sometimes, it isn’t as noticeable, so remember to always go through the Delirium Mirror at the start.

Upon activation, the map will turn Delirious, and fog will cover the entire map. The Delirium will spawn Delirious monsters around the map. You’ll start seeing crystal-like prisons spread across the map, too. Going near it will spawn more monsters.

You should also take note of the little icon with a counter on the bottom-left corner of your screen. This icon shows up when a Delirium Mirror is activated. The counter starts at one but progressively increases as you eliminate more monsters. Once you reach 5 or 6 counters, the counter progress exponentially gets harder to increase, so players usually aim for just 5 or 6 to get the rewards.

The icon in the corner corresponds to the reward type. However, all rewards give out Distilled items, mostly used for anointing amulets for an extra passive skill node. These give a big portion of your total currency value since some may fluctuate in price, and you might sell a few pieces for 5+ Exalted Orbs and above.

To capitalize on getting the maximum counter possible, you need to stay in the Delirium fog while eliminating the monsters. You might have noticed that the “0:05” timer is on your screen when running Delirium maps. This means the fog will dissipate if you don’t get back to the fog before that timer runs out. The fog moves in a specific direction, but its coverage is enormous. You should always push forward when running maps to avoid losing the Delirious fog. If the timer runs out, the reward will automatically drop as the Delirium encounter ends.

Is Delirium Farming Worth It in Path of Exile 2?

As mentioned, the Distilled items give you a decent chunk of currencies. The added monsters on the map are also often overlooked because they can add up your loot significantly without the player noticing. Each added monster from the Delirium monsters gives you more loot, especially rare ones.

However, Delirium isn’t as popular in early access because Breach is a better mechanic for farming currency. The monster density Breach adds to a map is way more than a full Delirium Mirror. It is interesting how the economy will shift because of this.

At a certain point, Breachstones will start to drop in price if too many are farming it. For Delirium, farming Simulacrums will be the items you chase for in your farming sessions. So, if your goal is to get as much currency as possible, you should look at the prices of Breachstones and Simulacrums – farm whichever is more expensive.
