How to Get a Horse in The Sims 4 – Horse Ranch Guide
Getting a horse in The Sims 4 requires purchasing and downloading the Horse Ranch expansion pack. Once you buy the pack, you have two options for obtaining horses:
- Make one in the Create-A-Sim (CAS) menu
- Purchase or rescue one from Chestnut Ridge’s Equestrian Center
- Purchase or rescue one from the Ranch Animal Exchange
Making Horses in Create-A-Sim (CAS)
A quick and free way to get a horse after purchasing the Horse Ranch expansion is to head into CAS and make one! To do this, click the Add a Sim button and find Add Horse under the Add Pet category. Once you do this, a random horse will appear, allowing you to customize its appearance, traits, and name.
Buying and Adopting Horses in Chestnut Ridge
Alternatively, you can travel to any lot near Chestnut Ridge’s Equestrian Center and interact with the giant green building to find two options: purchase or rescue a horse. Purchasing a horse is more expensive but guarantees that it’ll have positive traits. Rescue horses, on the other hand, are cheaper but have difficult traits that require extra attention. You’ll also typically find fewer options when rescuing.
