Pokemon GO Lapras Counter Guide

As we’ve mentioned, Sierra from Team Rocket is one such opponent in Pokemon GO who’s likely to have a Lapras with which to frustrate you. We’ve prepared a separate guide on the counters that are relevant to defeating Sierra here, but let’s focus on Lapras and its strategy for a moment here.

If you’re after a counter for Lapras, the following are all viable candidates in Pokemon GO:

  • Conkeldurr
  • Electivire
  • Lucario
  • Machamp
  • Rampardos
  • Raikou
  • Roserade
  • Terrakion

We find that Raikou’s Thunder Shock is particularly handy here when it comes to knocking Lapras flat on its back, and the same would go for Electivire. If you’re looking for something that hits hard but risks retaliation, you could also go with Rampardos and its Smack Down. Otherwise, most Electric Pokemon will do the trick so keep an eye out for Luxray, Zapdos and more. You might also want to pick something like Roserade and its Razor Leaf to switch things up a little bit. Sierra only has a chance to pick Lapras as the second critter that she challenges you with, so consider this Pokemon GO Lapras counter guide pretty evergreen if you come up against one in a raid situation.

Now that you’ve got our Pokemon GO Lapras counter guide at hand, it should be pretty easy for you to actually take it down whenever you next encounter it. If you need help with anything else about being a trainer, we’ve also put together a bunch of tips and tricks for taking down the other Team Rocket bosses, amongst other things:
