Did you know, in Path of Exile 2 you can add support gems to your main skill gems to drastically improve your power? It is often overlooked in the endgame because some players fixate on upgrading their gear. Adding support gems to your main skill should always be the main priority in almost any build in the game. The main question is how you add those support gem slots to your main skill in Path of Exile 2. Here’s how you can do it.
How to Add Support Gem Sockets to Skills in Path of Exile 2
To add support gem slots to your skill gems, you need to get Jeweller’s Orbs. There are three kinds of Jeweller’s Orbs: Lesser Jeweller’s Orb, Greater Jeweller’s Orb, and Perfect Jeweller’s Orb.
The Lesser Jeweller’s Orb adds the 3rd support gem socket. The Greater Jeweller’s Orb adds the 4th support gem, and the Perfect Jeweller’s Orb adds the 5th. You cannot skip any of these tiers, so you need all three to max out your skill gem. You need to get the Jeweller’s Orb and use it on a specific skill gem in your skill gem window.
You must do this to add more support gem slots to each skill gem. Players usually focus only on maxing out their main skill gem. However, some builds may require other skill gems to have at least five support gems. Some of the best builds use different main skills for mapping and bossing, too. So, it really depends on what type of build you are playing.

How to Get Jeweller’s Orbs in Path of Exile 2
Getting these Jeweller’s Orbs is extremely rare. The Lesser Jeweller’s Orb is a common drop in the endgame (you might even get one in the campaign), but the Greater and Perfect Jeweller’s Orbs may take a while before you get them.
The Greater Jeweller’s Orb may drop once in around 100+ high-tier maps, but the Perfect Jeweller’s Orb might double or triple that map number. As long as you are farming the highest-tier map you can, you have the best chance of finding them.
All these Jeweller’s Orbs are tradable. You can use the official Path of Exile 2 trade site, or you can also use the Currency Exchange in the game since it is a currency, after all.
At the time of writing, a Perfect Jeweller’s Orb costs a whopping 142 Exalted Orbs each, while the Greater Jeweller’s Orb costs around 28 Exalted Orbs. However, these prices can be quite volatile. To put it into perspective, three days before the Perfect Jeweller’s Orb reached 142 Exalted Orbs, it was only around 78. So far, it has been stabilizing at 140~ Exalted Orbs, but things may change in a second.
Target-farming these Jeweller’s Orbs isn’t possible, so you just want to use currency farming strategies to get as much currency as possible. Trade everything you get for Exalted Orbs and save until you have enough to buy the Greater and Perfect Jeweller’s Orb.
