Hogwarts Legacy has a large mix of main story quests, side missions, and little secrets for you to find as you explore the world. The side content primarily comes from features like Merlin Trials, Astronomy Tables, or even popping balloons using your broom. There are some hidden secrets at Hogwarts itself too! One of these secrets involves the Key of Admittance, an item that unlocks a special door in the school. How to Solve the Key of Admittance Puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy
There are two main parts to completing this puzzle. First, we have to find the Key of Admittance. Before you can begin doing this, you’ll need Alohomora level three, which you can level up as you collect Demiguise Statues for Gladwin Moon.
Once you have Alohomora level three, there are two choices you can make. You can either use your broom to fly up to the Headmaster’s Upper Study or travel through the Trophy Room and climb up the stone spiral staircase to the area. While the second option is the intended way, it requires completing the “The Polyjuice Plot” quest.

Regardless of the method, make your way up to the Headmaster’s Upper Study at the very top of the Grand Staircase building and look for a table with the Key of Admittance on it. The table is against a bookshelf with a gramophone beside it, with the key lying on the table’s corner. After picking it up, it’s time to head into the second part of this journey: finding and opening the right door!
Where to Use the Key of Admittance in Hogwarts Legacy
Starting from the Headmaster’s Upper Study, backtrack from the area and run down the stone staircase until you reach a statue room. If you still need to complete the Polyjuice Plot quest, this stone staircase is replaced with a statue, meaning you’ll have to travel here from the Trophy Room Floo Flame instead.

Rather than heading toward the staircase, continue down the hall past the statues until you find a door with an intricate lock mechanism. Use your Key of Admittance here to unlock the door, allowing you to loot some treasure chests and explore the tower!
