You’re no one’s fish food. Here’s how to pressure Bladefin in Final Fantasy Rebirth (FF7).
How to Pressure Bladefin in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (Fiend Intel 5: Fish Out of Water)
Once you activate the Stonearch Tower in the Corel Region, Chadley will call you up to let you know that there’s a brand-new fiend challenge called the Fish out of Water near the central area of the barren wastes.
This challenge will require you to take on the Bladefin and knock out three combat challenges:
- Pressure an enemy
- Stagger an enemy
- Defeat all enemies within the time limit
These challenges are so standard for one reason. The Bladefin has no elemental weaknesses. Instead, to pressure the Bladefin in Final Fantasy 7, you’ll need to inflict enough damage after it emerges from the sand. Easier said than done!
The best method to do this is to inflict standard combat damage to the Bladefin and build up your ATB gauge. Once you’ve done enough damage, the Bladefin will submerge itself. You can track its movements by watching its fin.
If you stand still, the Bladefin will emerge the fastest, attacking you with an aerial lunge. You can guard or dodge to avoid this attack, and then spam a normal or ATB ability, depending on your level. I found that even at the recommended level of 30 I could still turn that Bladefin into pressured sashimi with normal attacks. But you can also opt to use Cloud’s Triple Slash to ensure that the Bladefin becomes pressured. There are three Bladefins in this encounter, and you only need to pressure one once to knock off this challenge.
While you’re in the area, you might want to tackle the Silver Chimera, too, as it’s an even tougher fiend in the Corel Region. Or you can try knocking out the sprawling side quest, The Saga of the Seaside Inn, which requires you to beat the toughest fiend encounter in the Corel region.
