As you progress through the Disney Dreamlight Valley main storyline, Merlin will task you with finding ten Dream Shards. While this may sound simple at first, you may find yourself never getting any despite farming, foraging and digging around for some. Thankfully, there is a surefire way to get plenty of Dream Shards if you work hard enough! How to Get Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To find Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you must clear out Night Thorns. As you use your magic to get rid of Night Thorns, there’s a chance that you’ll pick up some Dream Shards. Usually, every few thorns will net you 2-3 shards.
From here, though, you may be wondering why you haven’t picked any up yet. The short answer is that you must progress through the story enough to unlock the Orb of Friendship. Around this time, Dream Shards will spawn more frequently, allowing you to get enough for Merlin’s quest.

Despite this, be sure not to use up all of your Dream Shards right away! Since they are still a rare resource, only use them for Merlin’s quest and in rare situations where you have an overabundance. Farming Dreamlight through daily duties and achievements is much easier than stockpiling dozens of Dream Shards. However, for the quest, you’ll have to head to a nearby crafting table and make Dreamlight under the “Potion & Enchantment” tab.
Furthermore, you may run into issues where you’ve already cleared out all of your Night Thorns and cannot progress any further. One solution you can try is farming enough Dreamlight to unlock a new area, such as Dazzle Beach, and getting rid of the thorns there. While there is not an unlimited supply in this area, there is enough where you should get most, if not all, of the Dream Shards you need to progress. You can access one half of Dazzle Beach by heading south of Peaceful Meadow, while the other half is east.
