Xbox Game Studios decided to drop a major announcement with Gears of War: Reloaded, a modern remaster of the title that started it all. And no, this time it’s not limited to the Microsoft Store, and it’s coming to every major platform, including the PS5.

Gears of War: Reloaded also has the multiplayer component intact, but does it have crossplay functionality across all platforms? Here is everything you need to know.

Does Gears of War Reloaded Have Crossplay Support?

Yes, Gears of War: Reloaded has crossplay support across all platforms, including PC, Xbox Series S|X, PS5, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The campaign supports two-player co-op, and the versus multiplayer mode allows up to eight players. You can squad up with your friends across different platforms and play together in either mode. This was officially confirmed in the Gears of War: Reloaded reveal post from The Coalition’s studio head, Mike Crump.

Does Gears of War Reloaded Have Cross-Progression Support?

Yes, Gears of War: Reloaded also has cross-progression support for your campaign and multiplayer profile across all devices, but you need to sign in with a Microsoft account. This isn’t necessary for regular crossplay.

Gears of War Reloaded Pricing and Release Date

Gears of War: Reloaded releases on August 26, 2025, for $39.99 SRP on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5, and Steam.

It’s also coming day one to Xbox Game Pass, and if you purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before today’s announcement, you will receive the Reloaded version for free.

Gears of War Reloaded Technical Features

Beyond crossplay and cross-progression, Gears of War: Reloaded has been remastered for modern hardware, and you can expect the following features no matter where you play.

  • 4K resolution
  • 60 FPS in Campaign
  • 120 FPS in Multiplayer
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR)
  • Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos
  • 7.1.4 3D Spatial Audio
  • Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
  • 4K assets and remastered textures
  • Enhanced post-processing visual effects
  • Improved shadows and reflections
  • Super resolution with improved anti-aliasing
  • Zero loading screens during the Campaign

Xbox has been on a roll this year with plenty of exciting Game Pass offerings. While I would’ve liked a collection of the Gears of War franchise by this point, it’s hard to complain about a $40 remaster of a game people have been asking for modern hardware for a while now.
