How to Get Car Batteries Fast in Escape from Tarkov

Some early strength training!

Car Batteries are hard to find in Escape from Tarkov. There are also some cases where you find one and can’t pick it up because it is too big or heavy. However, you can’t afford to leave one if you haven’t finished your hideout or quests that need them. Luckily, some spots on specific maps have a higher chance of spawning Car Batteries than others. Hitting those spots will be your best chance of getting Car Batteries fast and early in the wipe in Escape from Tarkov, and here’s what you should do.

Where to Get Car Batteries Fast in Escape from Tarkov

Car Batteries are a “technical” spawn, which means they’ll spawn inside Technical Supply Crates and other loose loot that regularly spawns technical items. However, these Car Batteries are hard to find because they don’t spawn on certain technical boxes or crates. For example, Toolboxes spawn technical loot but can’t spawn Car Batteries inside. It makes sense because Car Batteries are big.

Because of those rules, Car Batteries become extremely scarce in the economy. Here are the things you should look out for when trying to find Car Batteries:

  • Sports Bag
  • Dead Scav
  • Secret Stashes(Ground and Buried Barrel Caches)
  • Technical Supply Crates
  • Loose Loot (random loot spawn)

Best Car Battery Loot Spawns in Escape from Tarkov

The industrial plant on Customs, introduced in patch 0.16, is one of the best spawns for Car Batteries. Several technical loose loot spawn locations are inside the plant, making it an excellent spot to farm any technical items, including Car Batteries.

The best spot inside the industrial plant is the top floor inside the two rooms. You can see the spawns on the ground in the images above. Sometimes, it can spawn on the first floor near the Wi-Fi Camera spot in the Provide Viewership task (crates near the broken windows).

The next spot is one Interchange. Personally, this is my go-to spot for finding Car Batteries. When you need Car Batteries, you can also knock out some other quests, like Farming, which may require electrical loot spawns like Light Bulbs, Capacitors, Power Cords, and more. Interchange is a great way to find these items, and on the way to the Emercom Checkpoint extraction, you can always go to the back of Goshan to check if a car battery has spawned on one of the shelves.

The Car Battery can spawn on the metal shelves encircled in the image above. You can also check the opposite side since it can spawn there, too.

Some other places might be great for finding Car Batteries, like Lighthouse or Streets of Tarkov, but it all depends on how well you know the maps. The water treatment plant in Lighthouse or the camp in Streets of Tarkov also have decent chances of spawning Car Batteries, but it is extremely hard to get out, especially when carrying all that weight.

What Are Car Batteries Used For in Escape from Tarkov?

You’ll need four Car Batteries marked “found in raid” for the Car Repair quest from the Therapist (after the Pharmacist task). Besides the Car Repair quest, you may also need Car Batteries to upgrade your hideout. Since patch 0.16, we need items that have the “found in raid” tag when upgrading our hideout, meaning we have to find more Car Batteries every wipe.

Players need one Car Battery to upgrade Vents to level 2 and an additional four to upgrade Vents to level 3. That is a total of nine Car Batteries throughout a wipe. Make sure to start saving some stash space if you plan on collecting these before you reach the hideout upgrades or the quest.
