Light Bulbs might seem like a common drop in Escape from Tarkov, but you’ll find yourself constantly in need them. This is mostly for the Illumination hideout upgrade early in the wipe, and it is important to get it up fast to upgrade other areas in your hideout. You’ll need a ton of Light Bulbs, and here’s how you can get all the Light Bulbs you need in about two to three raids in Escape from Tarkov.
Best Way to Get Light Bulbs in Escape from Tarkov
While others may prefer running their farming strategies for electronic spawns, one map excels in giving many of these spawns – Interchange. Interchange has several stores that spawn electronic loot, and most of them are next to each other.
No other spot in the game comes close to these electronic spawns, and to find the most Light Bulbs, you must go through all these spots. The stores you should visit are:
- Techlight
- Texho
- Rasmussen
- TT
- German
All these stores are close to each other, and you can get to all of them in less than 4-5 minutes. However, going through the shortest route to get to each store will be dangerous. Since you will be running in the middle of the mall, there’s a high chance you might encounter some PMCs.
However, if you get the best spawns for looting specific stores, you’ll be there quicker than the others. For example, if you spawn near the garage entrance by OLI, you’ll be the first one to reach Texho, Techlight, and Rasmussen. If you spawn by the bus stop in IDEA, you’ll be the first one to TT, but if a PMC spawned in Scav Camp, they’ll be a close 2nd (if they rush TT).
You want to loot these stores fast and pay attention to where you can escape to after looting.

What Are Light Bulbs Used For in Escape from Tarkov?
Light Bulbs have several uses, but most will go to your hideout. Illumination level 2 needs a whopping 14 Light Bulbs to upgrade, which means you need at least 14 to have the “found in raid” tag. You cannot just buy them from the flea market ever since they changed hideout upgrades to require “found in raid” items instead. Light Bulbs used to go for 30,000-50,000 Roubles at the flea market in the early wipe because of the Illumination level 2, but with the changes, players will need to look for more money-making options at the flea market.
Apart from Illumination level 2, players need 5 for the Hall of Fame and Cultist Circle. You also need 2 for the Defective Wall level 6, which unlocks the Gym. In short, you’ll need more than 20 Light Bulbs for just the hideout.
