Complete Blackout Event Details in Escape from Tarkov
Beware of the boogeyman.
A big event just hit Escape from Tarkov, and there’s a lot to unpack, including a new boss and a new hot spot throughout the event. Raids are about to get more explosive, as everyone is looking to fight the new boss.
And to others, this may also signal that the very first season of Escape from Tarkov, or patch 1.1, might also be coming soon, so here’s everything you need to know about this Blackout event in EFT.
The Labs Blackout Event in Escape from Tarkov
The Blackout event brings the fight to The Labs, offering 5 new quests (exclusive questline) that unlock the “Going Dark” achievement, which is a legendary rarity achievement.
The quest chain starts with Wrench and Waterboarding, bringing you to The Labs with a lot of changes to it. First, a new boss, The Wedge, accompanied by its guards, roams The Labs. Wedge carries the best of the best loadouts, mostly using 7.62x51mm ammunition like M62s and M993s on the Mk17, X-17, SA-58 (short), or the MDR. He sometimes brings an MP7A1 with AP SX, and they all bring Model 8230 CS Gas Grenades, in line with the theme of the event.
He also drops a TerraGroup Labs Arsenal Storage Key (Blackout), which will help players finish the exclusive questline starting with the Key to Every Door quest.
During the Blackout event, the transit out of The Lab is unavailable. However, players can transit into The Lab from other maps. Most extractions are also closed apart from the Parking Gate and Hangar Gate, bringing the fights to the center of the Labs. Apart from limited extraction points, the only remaining extractions also need to be unlocked through activation in the system admin’s office, which is taught in the questline.
These changes make every run a chaotic nightmare, leading to fewer survivors but with massive loot. All keypad locks can be activated with a 4-digit code, giving you access to almost every good loot out there. The code changes every raid, so learning the code beforehand doesn’t matter.
The raid time is also reduced to 25 minutes, putting more pressure on players who seek to wait things out before looting or fighting.
This is surely a big event that will make players dump a massive chunk of their resources to play. Most events that could explode the in-game economy like this usually indicate a new wipe is coming, but in this case, it could be season 1 since the game has already launched. No holding back now.
